Silly Season 2014/2015 (Coaching Changes)

So, Cooks is gone, sounds like LaFleur is gone, and some have said Elston is gone. Hopefully we get Quinn to replace one of those guys, but who else could/would we bring in for the others?

In Mora's defense, Quinn was just announced as the Falcons new coach on Monday, following the super bowl. You can't expect them to announce that their DC is leaving when the head coach of his new team hasnt officially even started working there yet.

the whole world also knew Quinn was taking the falcons job as soon as seatle was eliminated. Have to think he already had his staff in place before then too.

Possible scenario (I know that rumors about Hoke have been debunked, but I think there has to be something to them.):

So Jeff Quinn to replace LaFleur.

If Hoke is brought in to replace Elston at DL, Elliot is moved to DBs, and someone needed to coach OLBs.

If Hoke is brought in to replace Elliot at OLBs (assuming Elliot moves to DBs), then someone will need to be hired to replace Elston.

What I would like to see happen is:
a) Dont replace LaFleur. BK has always been the QB coach. Just have a Tommy Rees like GA manning the everyday aspects of the position and don't waste a coaching spot on something that BK is gonna micromanage anyways.
b) Booker to CB. Virginia Tech has become DBU as of late recruiting 3 star kids off the Atlantic Coast and coaching them up. Makes perfect sense for the area recruiter to handle the position as well.
c) Elliot to retirement. I don`t like Elliot in Southern California. Not to be mean, but an old white guy just doesnt play well there. It might work in the mid-west, but not in Southern Cal.
d) Quinn to TE and assist with QB`s.
e) HIRE A DEDICATED SPECIAL TEAMS COACH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

While I understand your position, it worked out for ESB as he talked about Bob Elliott always being around.

ESB also is half-German and lived in Paris. He is not exactly the stereotypical Southern Cal recruit.

When I picture Southern Cal, I think of Biggie Marshall and Ykili Ross. Very different kids than ESB.

The presumed top 3 CB's on the team next year will be from WA, AZ, and TX. What if ND recruits kids not from the Atlantic Coast? After the staff shakeup is fully realized, moving Booker to coach Corner's could make sense, but not for the reason given.

Was there some concern that BVG was leaving? That'd be fast.

Don't think BVG leaves for Raiders. Some rumors of Ken Norton, Seattle LB coach, being in line for the Raiders job. Sounds like he will be passed over for Seattle DC job In favor of their DB coach.

Usually not one to wish anyone to lose their job, but this staff could really use a shakeup.

I say bring JR Sandlin back as TE coach, which is what he's doing for Jacksonville State right now I think, and have him do recruiting again too. He already knows ND and the kind of kids they need.

Got to define "confirmed"... there was a "confirmed" report by a great source yesterday that Brady freaking Hoke was headed to ND. And we all know how that ended lol...

It's strongly rumored and considered probable, not confirmed by ND or Falcons or LaFleur yet.

Man this is some Tipper Gore level stuff in here. Saying players that make a rap video are not the right fit for Notre Dame is one of the most ridiculous NDnation type comments I have seen. Rap is not inherently offensive. It is just music with pre-fabricated beats where the singer talks quickly. The guy made a music video. Who cares. And I don't like rap, at all. But I understand it is not evil.
