He signed a contract to play in the NFL and that contract has certain stipulations that he is not above following. Every other player in the league has to follow those rules, so why is Marshawn Lynch better than anyone else? And there *are* questions that, if Marshawn wasn't determined to act like a five year-old, I would like to ask the starting RB on a Super Bowl team.
Look -- there's no gun being held to his head that is making him play football. He can go do something else with his life if he wants. *Or* he can follow the rules, answer some questions and make millions of dollars. In the grand scheme of life, being forced to answer some questions in a press conference is a *pretty darn good trade-off* for being able to make millions and provide for your family. I'd sure be happy to do it.
Or he can pay $50,000 fines like an idiot just to prove some stupid point like a petulant child. His choice.
To his credit he did show up and answer every single question. It may not be the answer that reporters are looking for but screw them. So now you are expecting him to go above and beyond his contract and give thoughtful answers, which mostly likely is not in the contract? What exactly then constitutes a "thoughtful" answer? If the league is being so black and white with the players, why can't the players do the same? There is a double standard being applied.
