Would hate to see us drop below North Carolina when they have three losses and lost to us on their court.

I doubt they will but UNC also played a way tougher non conference schedule.

Brey made a huge mistake by not giving vj more minutes.

He was our x factor the first half.

On another note, zach was a huge disappointment. He was pushed around on defense, a nonfactor on offense, while forcing geben to play too many minutes for him. (who is clearly not ready for big time moments).
Auguste needs to start playing with the big boys. I'm tired of seeing him play so confidently against lesser talent, but pusses out against talent. He needs to take his game up a big step, soon.

I don't see us dropping. We were 13 to start, beat a top 20 team who just beat Louisville, and got edged out by an undefeated #3 ranked team. We'll probably stay put.

We really need to put this to rest, but it has nothing to do with help defense. I've had a long basketball career playing guard.

I'm saying when Grant does get his one on one's, his only go to seems to be to go by the defender. He cannot go into/lean into the defender to get push/create space. It's either fly by or get pushed out.

He's a good player, but that's a weakness of his. Back to the freaking game, lol.

If you had just said "Grant needs to bulk up", no one would have shit about your post, bc it's true.

But you said "Grant is too weak to play big-boy basketball". I ask you again...how do you score 27 against a tough, veteran, undefeated OSU team when you are too weak? And how do you score 18 against one of the toughest programs in the country if you're too weak to play big-boy basketball???

Are you calling it luck? A fluke? Or maybe, just mayyyyyyyybe, you were just spitballing or you misspoke or you were just talking out your you-know-what. It's OK to just admit that.

And btw, now I really know you never watch this team because Grant's mid-range game, including a step back jumper, has been a strength of his this year. He's worked on it HARD all year long (the announcers mention it every game to the point of annoyance). It didn't fall today for him, but it has this season.

Look, I know you love to argue your points to death even when you admittedly don't know much about a topic, but in this case, your original post (and the bolded part here) are simply misinformed.

As for our ranking, it'll depend on how other teams around us in the rankings have done this week. I can see us dropping a couple spots, which is fine. Our preseason schedule was an absolute joke.

I happen to know a lot about basketball and play a ton. Same position as Grant, too. He can score 27 points because he's a good scorer. I'm simply saying he's more finess and speed, and struggles with strength and getting into the body of a defender and still holding his own while creating space going towards the rim. That's the opposite of a step back so idk why you brought that up.

He does not have to be Dwayne wade, he's still a good scorer. But when he can't run by his defender it seems to limit his offense quite a bit. A strong guard can create that space going into a defender, not having to go around every time. Anyone who's played guard knows that.

He's a hell of a passer, btw.

As do I. Played for years and have coached for years. Even got offered a (VERY) low-level college assistant job at a D1 school. Glad we cleared that up.

Again, you obviously haven't watched this team much. It's painfully obvious. I know what a step back is, and Grant does it to create space., often using his body to create that little bit of space that ne needs. You said all he can do is go to the basket or shoot from distance, which is so blatantly wrong it's embarrassing.

And for the millionth time, he has scored against bigger, tough defenders. I honestly have no clue why you can't understand that. He's bossed games against exceptionally tough teams, but you still insist that "he's too weak to play big-boy basketball." Guess what my man? Scoring 27 points and 18 points against "big-boy" teams proves that he CAN and has played big-boy basketball.

I'll try one more time...explain to me how a guy can boss the game against 2 incredibly tough teams is too weak to play big bog basketball. Does he need to get tougher and bigger? Absolutely. But he can and has held his own against some of the best in the country.

Koon I love you. Grant will be a first round pick, he is probably the best player Brey has had.

Agreed. He's very good and I think he'll go first round too. Just pointing out that his lack of strength stood out tonight against a physical team. Not everybody has to be michael jordan or Kobe bryant, so it's fine. He's still a good college player.

I haven't watched enough to have a legit opinion on this but is Grant seriously a consensus first round draft pick? I guess I have never really thought of him as an NBA quality player.

That's good. There were a lot of losses in the top 25 this week. We really shit the bed though and could have been in top 5.

I would rather see us earn that spot later by making and ACC tourney run. Until I see a Brey team win more than two games in any tourney I won't believe it can happen. Our reliance on outside shooting will likely bite us in the butt again this year come March.

Hes got the talent but idk if hes a first round pick. Against tough matchups he has looked horrible shooting. Given he was double teamed a lot but if he was first round pick i would think he should take advantage of anything. Rly good college player tho.

We did shit the bed this weekend. If we would have beaten virginia we would have easily been top 5 team. Unfourtuantly

We actually dont rely on the three as much as you think. Our percentage inside teh arc is really high. Our defense is what keeps the other teams in it.

Good ball handling and balanced scoring ability, more than one guy being able to break people down off the dribble and a few guys absolutely lethal from behind the arc. Its a good team that can hang with about anyone but only having one legit post player is problematic. Need more beef.

And defense almost goes without saying. Don't we just assume that by now with Brey?

For those of you suggesting that we shit the bed this weekend, how so?

We played one of the most athletic teams in the country, kept the pace with them (and beat them for orebs), in fact there were plenty of moments where we looked more athletic.

We played a very very solid game, "shitting the bed" is a complete over statement, and foolish one at that. ND vs Alabama, that's shitting the bed. This? Letting the game "slip away" is much more appropriate, but not shitting the bed.

This team has come such a long way, and if you guys can't see an improvement in athleticism vs Brey's past teams, you guys are missing something.

You can say there's no such thing as a good loss, but I was rather pleaded with what I saw out the team.

OFD said it best, after the Georgia Tech game 100% of us would have taken going one for two this last week as perfectly acceptable.

Overreact much?

We shit the bed because we lost at home to a team when we were up 7 (or more?) in the second half. Missed countless free throws and committed really silly fouls (the Auguste foul in particular comes to mind). In other words, we blew the game.

That doesn't mean we don't see improvement or are unhappy with the team's performance so far. We just just recognize that we gave that game away.

I would not say we **** the bed. I would say we let one get away that could have been a huge victory and cemented us firmly as a contender for an ACC championship. I really wish we would have pulled off the UVA game, but this team is still growing and is on track to be a tourney team and possibly do some damage there. This is also the most exciting team i have ever seen Brey field. After the disaster that was last season my expectations have been exceeded so far this season and I am more than happy with where we are as a team. Oh yeah also not bad to move up after a loss and Providence also garnered a couple top 25 votes.

I wish we could see the high school grades of the Starting 5 for all Top 25 teams and compare it to our kids.

Could be a minor infraction like team rules?

Torres is about to get serious minutes
