Per UCLA 247 site, they are really trying to get Sanders to visit in January. However, it looks like he's set on ND and won't be making that trip.

Man, I really f*cking hate Mora. Glad Sanders looks like he's going to stick, but that douche bag in LA seems to target our recruits specifically. The clown can't leave for the NFL soon enough.

In that article or post they state that there is bad blood between the programs and us stealing Alize probably has a correlation to them trying to get Sanders. Really pretty shitty that you'd recruit a kid extremely hard just to spite another program versus what you think is right for the kid.

Has there ever been a D1 team that has recruited based on what's right for the kid? How would you even do that?

Well I think anytime ND, Stanford, Duke, Vandy, etc. recruit kids there is really no downside to the kid. Maybe you never play, you still walk away with a free education from an exceptional university. In this specific scenario the UCLA guys made it seem like they were recruiting Sanders solely to try and stick it to ND's staff. "You take one of ours, we take one of yours." What I meant was Kelly has a plan in place for how he'd like to use Sanders, there is a value to him and our program because of that. UCLA might just be doing this out of spite, which doesn't create any value for the kid, and that is purely from a football standpoint.

Actually, this wasn't totally uncommon back in the day. Recruiting has changed so much with advent of social media and the recruiting industry. It's far more "hustle" and adversarial and "rankings" driven... there are stories of coaches feeding sites information in exchange for bumping up their guys ratings and making their efforts look better which in turn placates fans... just a weird game these days.

Probably the most famous anecdote of a kid being told to do what's best for him is Bo Jackson. Bo Jackson was told by Bama coaches that they liked him a lot but he wouldn't really be able to get serious playing time for a couple years if he came there, and he should go somewhere else if he wanted to be "the man" immediately. Auburn said they'd do that. So he went to Auburn. You'd never, ever see that in today's game.

You could make a case that we are recruiting Alize because we have used TE really well but also to spite Mora over Vanderdoes. So we are really only giving back what we have been given. Let the spite circle begin!

No, I don't think any educated person could make that case. TE, despite our numbers, IS position of need. We lose the only semblance of production from that position via graduation this year and Jones is a bona fide stud at said position. This isn't about spite. Dicking UCLA is just fortunate collateral damage here.

The EV thing, etc. I know that was after NSD, but Mora gonna Mora.

I know it's early in Cali, and I guarantee you, somehow someway, Mora and Sark will be working a last ditch effort in here.

I would be if I were them.
