Naomi Wolf is left of George Soros and Nancy Pelosi. Hardly a reliable source.

Occupy did not survive as a movement because they started defecating in the streets and openly using drugs. The Democrats could not afford to support such a group no matter how much they believed in their cause.

Versus the numerous instances of racist Tea Party buffoons who border on anarchists, think Obama is a Muslim, etc etc?

Any time you're dealing with unfiltered groups of people you're going to get a decent amount of bums. When it's the Left, you'll see the modern hippie bum from time to time. That is not the reason the Democrats walked away though.

Or Cliven Bundy, who managed to get an armed militia to intimidate the feds into not arresting him, all because he refused to pay his bills. What an interesting episode that was.

Still can't stand everyone saying "teen" shot. This guy was 18 years old and already had 3 arrests on his record. Reporting "teen" shot gives the wrong impression.

A true patriot. Tightly shrink wrapped in red, white and blue.

Teen is usually used to describe a non-adult so the implication is it is someone younger. 18 is an adult. When one of our brave soldiers is killed they don't say "teen killed in Iraq" so please don't imply that the police...doing their job...killed a teenager. The cop killed an adult who pointed a gun at him. Tell it like it is.

I agree with you there dad4aa. These headlines are created for clicks and "teen" is used to incite interest not for clarity. They know exactly what they are doing.

While I agree with your premise, and the media was definitely stirring the pot with the way they presented the story, I think dshans was just being funny here.

Not to add or take away because politics are simply not my cup of tea (no pun intended), the Occupiers that we dealt with in D.C., for the most part were homeless, druggies, rapists, committing robberies, assaults, etc. They began setting up Tent City in one of the nearby parks and basically stayed homeless while committing crimes, etc. Not everyone was but enough were.

More like the two parties viewed the Tea Party and Occupy as their respective movements to be utilized for a generation of political ground work. As you said, they both initially received a lot of attention. The difference is that the Tea Party was willing to play ball while the Occupy movement was not; when it became clear to the Democrats, the Party stepped away. The fact that Tea Party candidates are now funded by corporations should make that quite clear.

A simple Venn Diagram of what the two movements stood for would show anyone that they were simply the Right and Left versions of largely the same emotion: big government in bed with big business at the expense of common Americans. The Tea Party's demagogues dropped more of the big business complaints and adopted more big government criticisms, whereas the Occupy movement was derided because they wouldn't eschew big business criticisms.

wat

You don't remember the "protesters" with signs blaming capitalism and calling corporations evil? You don't remember them saying a job is a right? Meanwhile they're all sitting around wearing North Face, camped out in tents, doing God knows what...and spreading their whining via Facebook, Twitter, etc using Iphones and Ipads from a giant corporation.

The irony was beautiful.

Since when is the term teen under 18. He is a teenager and an adult, surely he can be both.

So, an eighteen year old "adult" is killed. This does not alter the reality that he was a teen.
