According to II Nico says Jones is 50-50 between UCLA and ND. They apparently are very close friends who spend a lot of time together. Will be flying together on the Fertitta jet for the banquet. Didn't realize that Bishop Gorman's principal is an ND alum.

I have thought all along the banquet is where and when he commits to ND. Let's hope I am right!

Would assume our coaches stopped by while in town this week? Sounds like he might be getting the message.
Still, a kid in his spot could take that philosophy to most any college, figuring you work hard (at football) for four years, get a fat NFL contract, and have fun the rest of your life.

While I understand he is only 17/18 yrs old, I disagree with that quote. You should work hard for the rest of your life.

This is the thought process that dooms so many people. Saban sells Bama as a pro factory but nothing is said in the media about all the players who do not go pro that Bama goes through that wind up working for the city. All the players that find their scholarship taken by better talented incoming players or from a career injury. What are there maybe 4-5 TEs taken a year total in the pros and that includes third year players declaring early?

Not to mention, if you arent 1-3 round pick, your contract isnt so fat anyway. And you are one hit away from being a city worker without a quality education.

Totally agree, but it's hard to sympathize with kids who are only looking for a football-first program and don't give a damn about a degree. They kind of get what they deserve: short-term gain, long-term pain.

Of course. All I'm saying is I get how a 17 year old stud who's *certain* he'll be playing in the NFL might see it that way. Not saying is it's the right way to see it.

I wouldn't put it all on the kids. To be fair, a lot of programs pump these recruits up with tales of the value of the education that they're offering. Some recruits don't have adults around them who are in position to know better.

No idea if that's the case with Jones (though Gorman seems like a pretty sophisticated program, so I'd suspect there's someone - even if not family - who might be able to lay things out for him).

I think the banquet seals the deal for ND. He will have the option of being able to return home to visit his family whenever he wants with Nicco having access to a jet.

Get Iman Marshall and "Biggie" can ride with them too!

Give me this kid and Biggie and I don't care who else we sign. I don't care if we take a walk on at running back and safety. I think Biggie is that good. Shut down one side of the field good.

Who is Biggie?

I'd like to finish with this guy, Edwards, Smith, and another DB. Ronald too, if he wants in.

Sorry it is CB Iman Marshall. I would take a Edwards too but if we just get Marshall I would be happy.

Glad that we cleared that up. Almost zero chance at "Biggie" though.

Sounds like ND has a real shot here per Intel. USC might be creeping in and sounds like he is going to convince his family that ND is the place for him

Is going to try and convince ND is the place for him. Meaning his family and Alize Jones need to see if ND is the place they want to be. Sounds like dad is in UCLA's corner
