Man, I can't remember the last time I saw so many Nancy boys in one thread. Man up gentlemen. It's an opportunity to make up for the last half of the season. We'll see how much BK learned from 2012 in preparing for a bowl opponent.

I could blow all the sunshine you want up your butt, and that won't stop Notre Dame from losing by three touchdowns to LSU.

I bought tickets for my wife and I last night. We will be cheering the Irish drenched in ND colors from head to toe. Win or lose, we will be cheering on those young men.

Go Irish!!!!!

Exactly. Just b/c a fan is a realist and not Pollyanna doesn't mean they still don't want an ND victory or for ND to win. All a fan can do is base their prediction on what they saw in the most recent games which was basically a third team defense & an offense that had the look of a squad that had quit (not saying that they quit...but that was the vibe they put out & I've heard it from both ND & non-ND fans).

As a fan, I look at the SCum game and carefully watch the practice reports (or more importantly, the injury reports) leading up to the game. Even then, it's not a lot for a fan to base a more optimistic outcome. At this point, all I ask is for these young men to give 100% effort, play hard for 60 minutes, play aggressive vs the passivity we've witnessed lately, and minimize the sloppy play. If they can do that, let the chips fall where they may. If that means a win....awesome! If not, at least we saw a team that more resembled the first half of the season vs the latter half.

This really is such a great opportunity and that's all you can ask for after blowing chunks down the stretch. A chance to play a perennial powerhouse from a very competitive conference is what ND wants and it's what college football wants. But what the real question is and what I think a lot of the negativity from the board is do the players want this opportunity? Or the coaches? Are they going to start playing like a team? Are they going show a little passion or a little anger or angst?

The lack of heart and desire against USC and the overall second half of the season has left too many questions with no clear answers. That's the part that leads most to believe this team has no business being on the field with an 8-4 LSU team that is building for next year like most thought ND would be doing before the beginning of the 2014. Except LSU didn't lose themselves in the process. There is little question about the identity of LSU. You know what they are good at, you know how they are going to attack you and they don't give a damn that you know all those things.

Regardless of score I just want to see ND to play like they want to be there for 4 qtrs. and maybe even play like they have nothing to lose for a change. It's a chance to beat LSU from the SEC. I want to see ND own this opportunity.

LSU-77 ND-0 shouldn't have even accepted a bowl we don't deserve it. I don't see how any of you think that this ass kicking is goin to b good for the program it's another humiliating defeat to make us look even worse I wish we just would've turned it down and waited till next year this is going to be worse than the USC game. Fucking sucks

No words for how pathetic this post is, damn. We need the extra practices so the bowl is a good thing. I also think that it will be a closer game then you think. Yes it will be difficult to win but I LSU's offense isn't made to blow anyone out.

Just some food for thought. Sorry I couldn't format this better.

Team Offense
RK TEAM YDS YDS/G PASS P YDS/G RUSH R YDS/G PTS PTS/G
40 Notre Dame 5335 445 3525 293.8 1810 150.8 396 33.0
82 LSU 4601 383 1967 163.9 2634 219.5 331 27.6

Team Defense
RK TEAM YDS YDS/G PASS P YDS/G RUSH R YDS/G PTS PTS/G
8 LSU 3670 306 1948 162.3 1722 143.5 197 16.4
70 Notre Dame 4818 402 2878 239.8 1940 161.7 351 29.3

I wouldn't say we are overmatched, we just need to keep our turnovers down and force LSU into long passing situations. If we can get the ground game going and stick with it we should be able to control the clock. We are against a tall test but were not playing the best team in the nation just a good defense.

Just my thoughts, blast away!

ND will sell out against the run. I just hope they don't let LSU's pass game look like Heisman contenders in the mean time. On offense, I think Golson starts. I really hope BK eases him into a rhythm. I hope BK runs the ball. I hope BK can figure out QUICKLY how to beat whatever blitz package LSU brings. Talent-wise, I don't think LSU is that far ahead. Depth-wise, yes. ISD comparing this game to the UL game. I think it's winnable but a lot has to happen in favor of ND. Most likely LSU wins, but I'm hopeful for a good close game.

I think this is where ND will struggle against LSU. Their run defense has been improving. Their pass defense is suspect. With that said, maybe Kelly decides he is going to start running. LOL

Now I'm confused b/c I'm reading where LSU has the #1 pass efficiency defense in the nation and that the read option has given them fits.

You are correct that they struggled early against the read option. But outside of Auburn, Miss St, and Wisconsin they have been pretty good against the run. Their pass defense has been solid most of the year.

We are on the visitors side correct?

From the Bowl information page:

Please note that LSU will be on the East side (visitors side) and Notre Dame will be on the West side (home side). LSU is officially the home team in this year's game.

Looking at their schedule, they played 5 teams with "Good" rushing attacks (Wisc, MSt, Aub, Bama & Ark) and lost 4 out of the 5. Pair that with games against Sam Houston and Louisiana Monroe skewing the stats, i'm not sure how it's reasonable to say that they have been pretty good against the run. They have been mediocre at best in regards to rushing defense. They have been elite in pass defense though.

That isn't on the bowl information page. The east side of the stadium is the home side. The west side of the stadium is the visitor side.

This is from the bowl info page:

"LSU will be seated on the East Side of the Stadium and Notre Dame will be on the West."

My next door neighbor works at LP Stadium and sent me the link......

Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl | Tickets

It is on the bowl information site and no..... I have season tickets to the Titans....Titans (home side) is the west side.... you are mistaken.
