Damn, recruiting has changed. I assumed Hoge was already on campus and redshirting this year. Feels like he committed 2 years ago.

Unless you've been held back earlier in school, it's really tough for kids to come in and start on the O-line as freshmen. Even if they have the size, they typically don't have the strength. Since's he's enrolling early that will certainly help him. As Lucky said, maybe the two deep. I think he's going to turn out to be a stud.

GB, no I don't see him starting and the chances of him playing aren't very good. I think making the two deep with tough. However, I don't see it as out of the realm of possibility that it does occur. Keep in mind that Nelson is in the 2 deep and hasn't been even remotely close to seeing the field this year. Also, I expect to see some shake up going into next year on the Oline. Either players will be getting better or they'll be getting moved.

Agreed, especially with all projections having him at center. Even with a spring under his belt it will be a tall order for him to quarterback the line as a true freshman. Thankfully we finally have the luxury of elder lineman either getting better or getting out and still keeping talented freshman in a redshirt pipeline.

Kid is huge. I think he's going to be special when it's all said and done.

One of my favorite commits of the class. Kid just seems like he'd be a real bastard to play against on the line.

Which, the Irish could use, IMO...

He strikes me as the type of player that may push for playing time as a freshman.

I don't know if he'll play next year or how much he'll play in '15 but I have a good feeling he'll be the starting center for the 2016 National Champions next to Elmer and Nelson at guards, McGlinchey at RT and Bars at LT.

...until it doesn't happen and people release their rage in game day threads and demand answers for why their unrealistic expectations weren't validated.

Hey man I can get that negativity elsewhere. I come here to get smoke blown up my ass.

If Malik is 75% of JT Barrett (and I think he will be), I don't think expecting a national championship caliber team in '16 is unrealistic in the least bit.
