I hope with the movement in the South East area we can hold on to Alford. He's probably in line for an OC gig and that's his area.

It will be a sad day WHEN we lose Tony Alford.

Very true. I wish there was some way we could lock him in since he seems to be responsible for some of our best recruits.

Like what? Major programs like Michigan and Florida will go for guys with head coach experience. He might be able to get on with a lower-tier Power 5 school like Illinois or Kansas. But in a lot of ways you might be better off at SMU, where you've got good recruiting grounds, an administration that wants to win, and a very beatable schedule. Win 10+ for a couple of years there and you can jump to the big time like Sumlin and Brian Kelly did.

I am not saying you aren't right but that conference should be borderline division 1. I would think Texas Tech type job would be good for him. Or wait til some others other jobs open up from their coaches leaving.

the money is good though and sometimes its good to get a head start and for him to be able to pick his assistants before the carosel really starts up

Buh bye Golden

Edit: actually he's signed through 2020 so that buy out is probably huge. He deserves to be fired though

Bo let go from Nebraska

From ESPN:

Pelini improved to 67-27 as Nebraska's coach on Friday with a 37-34 overtime win at Iowa. The victory pushed Pelini's win total past Tom Osborne for the most ever at the school in a coach's first seven years.

In fact, no coach in the history of a Power 5 program had been fired for on-field performance after winning as many games in his first seven years. Only Alabama and Oregon -- first and second this week in the College Football Playoff rankings -- can match the Huskers in winning nine games each year since 2008.

Harbaugh may be gone at San Fran. Crazy. He's the only guy I'd be completely ecstatic about if ND moved on from Kelly. He'd absolutely kill it at ND, but the old timers would hate his personality while loving the playing style.

@schadjoe: Texas A&M announces DC Mark Snyder won’t return

Enter muschamp

Apparently Ellis Johnson has been bounced at Auburn, and Haney (at ESPN) has tweeted that there is reported interest of Muschamp working with Malzahn

I think that was poor decision by Nebraska. As Notre Dame will never be what it once was, Nebraska will never be what it was under Osbourne.

I don't like this. At all. That might be one of the scariest teams ever if they could play some defense.

Can you imagine?

One positive would be that Muschamp/Weis (who was a pretty good offensive coach) failed miserably as a tandem. Maybe their egos would clash.

But yeah - if they could get the Malzahn offense and Muschamp defense clicking together, not sure the College Football Playoff trophy would leave the state of Alabama for quite some time

Muschamp was a great DC during his time at Auburn. Lil Bro may be getting busy down on the Plains. Will be interesting to see what Gus does next season with Jeremy Johnson at QB. He is not a read spread QB but more of a pocket passer. Gus will probably revert back to his Tulsa type offense. And with the possibility of Muschamp running the defense, they should be pretty decent.

yup it has to be a done deal. You don't fire a DC at Auburn without a replacement in the bag.

Yeah I agree. Kudos to Auburn for moving quickly to try and lock Will up. Should be interesting.

the real fire cracker will be if Muschamp tries to take some UF recruits with him to the Plains. If I was him, I would do it

Yeah but right now the Gator class is very weak and their two best recruits remaining are both offensive players. Don't think he will get much help there. Now, the players he was recruiting that haven't committed. He has a few that may go with him. Guess we will see.

Agree with the bold. Scott Frost is likely their man.

The non-bold is pure nonsense though.

Freeze and McElwain appear to be the leading candidates at this point. Some reports out that Freeze was offered the job at $4. 5 million per but J. Foley dismissed that.
