I played him too. Saw the news on Friday's missed practice but didn't have a better option since I have a couple guys on bye weeks.

Here I was hoping he would become a better RBII or flex option than Richardson, Tate or Benjamin to bump me up heading into the playoffs.

It comes with deep sadness that I say Jonas Gray is inactive for the Super Bowl...

Well, that was the only reason I would have cheered for the Pats. Guess I'm cheering for gkIrish and the Seahawks. I probably won't watch the game though, tbh.

55 yard TD run here. 8 carries for 73 yards in the 1st half. Good speed still for his size.

He always followed his blocks ridiculously well.

Good stuff. How does the depth chart break down? If he can get a solid 10 -12 reps per game it may be best situation for him to showcase abilities without taking a ton of hits, extending his career and making him very marketable.

Vereen left. And I think he's the #2 now and should get the week 1 start.

Isn't Blount in the mix as well? That would be three backs coach is comfortable with mixing in.

Blount will be the main "power back" while most likely James White will take over the Faulk/Woodhead/Vereen passing role.

Gray will start Week 1 with the Blount suspension but all reports have Blount being the most impressive RB on the team in training camp, so it will take a monster game in Week 1 or a Blount injury or mess-up for Gray to be anything other than a backup. Belichick seems to have a soft spot for Blount....he loves guys who are screw-ups but who turn it around for him.

Jonas had a historical game for the Patriots franchise and then fell off the face of the earth so who the hell knows.

That's what happens when you forget to set your alarm.

He also had been late a couple times before, so this was kind of the final straw. Didn't help that Blount was just cut from the Steelers also.

Brandon Spikes was cut (placed on phony IR) early in 2013-2014 playoffs for the same reason, and he was cut for showing up late due to a blizzard. He had 86 tackles and they were in the middle of a playoff run (AFC Championship loss) and he was still let go for tardiness. Belichick doesn't mess around haha I wouldn't show up late again if I were Jonas. He needs them more than they need him. He couldn't make the active roster for the Dolphins or Ravens before ending up in New England.

It's a pretty perfect offense for him also with their system. They really don't ask him to do too much.

Wow, goes from having that monster game last season, to the dog house for being late, to off the team this year? Crazy reversal of fortune.

I thought he was taking first team reps with Blount out for the first game?

He had a good pre-season, too. I guess they figured he was really only worthy of a spot if Blout gets injured, which is too bad. I'm sure someone will pick him up....personally I don't think there's really much of a difference between a guy like Gray and someone like Alfred Morris.

There is about a million dollar difference, so for the price Jonas would be a great get for any team. Houston would be a great place to end up as well.

Yeah, sometimes there is a very slim margin between players. I got cut on this week in both '83 and '84...I know how these guys feel though I think guys like Jonas had a much better chance of hanging on than I did (being a free agent from D3). Jonas might get the call back as Blount has a hard time staying healthy...I should know as I've had him on my fantasy team before. Good luck Jonas!

Seems like he should be able to find a spot on a team and stick. Virtually no cost and high upside - why not give him a year in a decent system and see what happens?

Bears could put him #2 behind Langford and be in good shape once Forte is gone next year. He is pushing 30 but really hasn't taken the hits. All you need to do is buy him a damn alarm clock.
