...and despite all the LL Bean hate, I'd argue that Patagonia actually has a much more offensive yuppie culture.

Wooly doesn't need fishing gear. He just wades out in to the frigid water and grabs the fish with his bare hands.

I freaking love that commercial. Laugh every time.

Don't forget leggings and Uggs.

You gotta talk to the wife more... Uggs are out of style brah. And god bless the woman who decided wearing only leggings/yoga pants is acceptable attire in the fall.

Are they out of style? My sister (17) still wears them. My wife prefers these (in Colonial Red... I bet Wooly loves that).

Wooly, LL Bean actually makes some decent, well-priced fly fishing gear.

Sure... if you drive a Range Rover and like looking like a d!ck... ;)

...and despite all the LL Bean hate, I'd argue that Patagonia actually has a much more offensive yuppie culture.

Every girl at Bucknell as soon as it dips below 60 degrees:

Patagonia gets a lot of play in the yuppie culture because its expensive. It's expensive because of their fair trade, environmental practices. It's not cheap to produce goods in the manner they do, but yuppie is not their culture by any means. That is a hell of company ran by a man with true outdoor spirit. Yvon Chouinard is a mountain of a man in the world of outdoor adventure and started the company when he was a homeless rock climber selling pitons out of the back of his car during his climbing of Yosemite. The guy has done more for outdoor preservation and furthering of outdoor sports than possibly anyone on the planet. Patagonia will always have my business, and their outdoor clothing is simply the most rugged and user friendly gear out there.

Do yourself a favor and read his memior, "Let My People Go Surfing". You'll thank me and have a different view of the company.

Do you worry about her getting hit on at the farmer's market?

Or do you buy your cider and cinnamon sticks at Whole Foods?

I think I had him for Meteorology. Cool guy. One of my favorite classes. I lived in Alumni Hall my first year (I was a transfer) and then moved to the Delta Sig house. I was there '91 to '95. I went back a couple years ago and almost didn't recognize the campus.

We were there at the same time. I was on campus in fall '92 to take my last class which I had put off for 3 years.

You definitely had him for Meteorology. He was a one man show back then. I technically have a Geography degree though mine was in the International Politics side in Dr. Kallay's dept.

BTW...
The Crusader's made a game of it on the road with Mizzou. They led in the second half and never were out of it until 5 minutes left. I think I'm going to go back and see the New Mexico game at the ARC. I missed Homer on his last trip to Phoenix, it will be good to see him and maybe Urlacher will show up, I'll have a jersey in the car just in case. Don't have a signed one for the man cave yet.

When it comes to Mountaineering, Mammut and Lowa are the best outfitters available. The North Face stuff is very good and has gear for anything, Patagonia is ok for 14er's in good weather but you aren't gonna find their off the rack items it at the top of Everest. Great company though. Corporate philosophy is tremendous. I've got a synchilla pullover fleece That's 25 years old and there's not a stitch out of place.

When you've had cold, wet feet for the last time, ask Santa for a pair of these:

I freaking love Patagonia and own a ton of their gear. Doesn't change the fact that every New England fratstar owns at least 2 of their fleeces.

n00b comment. Obviously, farmers market season is summertime when the cucumbers, tomatoes, and sweet corn are at their tastiest. You wouldn't wear rubber boots in the summer. That's ballet flat weather.

Or do you buy your cider and cinnamon sticks at Whole Foods?
No, I shop at the un-organic, unfair trade supermarket like a good American.

Anyone who makes cool stuff that's also expensive will eventually garner attention from yuppie wannabe's. That's just the way it goes.

Walk around Boulder, CO and you will see all the coeds sporting Mountain Hardware fleeces.

I should have known that you stay inside if the weather is a bit spitty out. Humidity can ruin a pair of crisply pressed dockers.

Jeans. Only. Levis 559. That's it.

The Walmart near me smells like diapers. Anything I can get there I can get on Amazon instead and not have to deal with degenerates. My "dry goods" come from Price Chopper or Stop and Shop. You'd like my bakery and my butcher.

Are you kidding me? Whole NY strip loins for $3.75 a pound!? Baby back ribs for under $3?

I'd make my own jerky too if I could get meat at those prices consistently
.

You can. You just can't live in Yuppie land.

If I buy through a catalog, I go to the gold standard of catalogs.

I'm starting to think that my confusion at the start of this whole thing is that y'all use "yuppie" when you mean "preppy". My Bean Boots are definitely more preppy than yuppie, but they're also probably the only preppy thing about me.
