It seems as though Pass, while he may be a tough pull, is being rated higher.

I'm late to this party, but I'm gonna assume that this means the staff is cool with focusing on one super stud and not worrying about backup options yet.

They either land the super stud, which would be awesome, or swing-and-miss, which won't kill QB recruiting considering the addition of Wimbush in the '15 class.

I guess it's an "okay" time to put all your eggs in one basket, considering you have Zaire for potentially another three years, Kizer for 4, and Wimbush for 4/5.

IMO, as soon as Wimbush signs on the dotted line, we should be all-in on Hunter Johnson the #1 QB in '17 from our back yard with a perfect skill set for this kind of offense.

Going after a '16 stud was imperative with no '15 QB, but signing a top guy the focus needs to be on locking down the "must get" '17 target.

Agree completely, stay on Pass and Patterson though just in case they decide to come! Speaking of Hunter, he will be in attendance this weekend.

I agree. In 2016 I'm still trying to get one of the top QB's but with Wimbush in hte fold it's not nearly a worry as it could have been.

Isn't pretty much everyone saying FSU?

There was some logistical thing that made it unclear whether ESPNU would be covering it. At least, that's what the tweets I saw alluded to.

Yea what Loy is referring to isn't whether or not Malik picks FSU, its whether or not he'll announce today on ESPNU.

There are a lot better options at QB in 2017 than Hunter Johnson.

You definitely recruit him now but ND is/will be involved with other 2017 QBs. 2017 has a great possibility of producing some absolute studs.

Henry going to FSU might have started something else in motion. (???)

I was out boozing with the local high school experts in Orange Co last night and was directed to look up something on line.

About the same time the Henry - ND love affair started to cool, a BETTER QB from the class of '16 started following Chris Brown, Everett Golson, Malik Zaire, Tori Hunter Jr and Jaylon Smith on Twitter.

Wouldn't it be ironic if after 3 LA/IE/OC QB's who were ND leans went elsewhere in the past year that one who never was went Irish? Especially after he had Touchdown Jesus as his Twitter header for the longest time.

KJ Costello, if you are reading this... YES, ND would love to have you!

2017? Have they even been potty trained? Serious question for guys who know stuff about the 2017 class... how? Are the pay sites already talking about these kids?

I don't have a subscription to any of the major sites, but the analysts I follow tweet frequently about 2017 kids, we've put out offers, and a number of major programs are already wracking up commits from that class. It's just where the game has gone these days.

Why do you say that?

He is rated higher than any QB in the class per 247 Composite.

Just curious, I'm not in the Midwest so i haven't sen him. I don't always agree with what the recruiting sites think anyways but just be curious to know what you are hearing or seeing.

Notre Dame is already narrowing down 2017 QBs.

One of which will most likely be Matt Corral

He's 2018.

Currently 8th grade, for those keeping score at home. Yikes.

No, he's a freshman at Oaks Christian. Had a good season once he took over the team. I saw him have a good game against Ricky Town's team. Read he had a horrible game to end the season against Malik Henry.

ND pulls very well on the northside of LA. Obviously Clausen went to Oaks Christian and Dayne Christ is from nearby Sherman Oaks Notre Dame where CJ Sanders is at now. Henry is from next door in Westlake Village.

Wouldn't surprise me if he has an interest in ND.

I remember all the guys on this board talking about how we didn't need a 2015 QB in the fold because we had all these great options going for us with 2016 QB's. Now everyone will be looking to 2017 and all the great QB's we will be in on as far as recruiting because 2016 is falling apart.
Thank God the ND coaches landed Wimbush and didn't pay attention to IE posters.

If ND didn't land Wimbush they probably would've landed Henry today, no? I figure that's sorta the point.

Henry himself said that whoever was signed for 2015 would not effect his decision.

What's he supposed to say? Of course adding another All American QB to the depth chart had an effect.

A few weeks ago Mike Frank mentioned on Power Hour that there was a 5 star 2016 player that was extremely high on ND. But the staff didn't feel he had the right attitude to be a part of the team.

Anyone know if they may have been referring to Henry?

And Florida State landing 4 star QB Deondre Francois for 2015 didn't have an effect while ND adding Wimbush did? How strange.

Sure, he took that into consideration too. He took EVERYTHING into account.

Maybe Wimbush was the straw? Maybe he was happy to redshirt in '16, hold a clipboard in '17 and then compete with Kizer in '18?

Maybe KJ Costello called him and said he's going to ND and that he'd never sniff the plastic grass.

I don't what the final reason was but when you are making that decision, every factor has a value. It's simple math from there.

Yeah, mind blank on 2017/2018 kids.

But, I would imagine the 2017 kids would start coming out publicly soon. Good crop in that class.
