I'm pretty excited for this election. According to my TV, all the candidates are tired of the "business as usual" approach in Washington/Nashville and they're going to change it. Sounds like there is going to be some real positive changes coming, so we we've got that going for us, which is nice.

Voted early on Friday, which had the extra benefit of getting me out of work an hour early.

Is it just me, or do the democrat candidates do any actual positive campaigning or is it all just slamming the opponent? Not that the Republicans don't do some negatives but they are at least spending SOME time presenting some things they stand for.

Kay Hagan will win NC, I am pretty tempted to vote the libertarian candidate though. If Libertarians wanted to make some headway they should start with US House seats, at least there they might be able to get a meaningful ground game and make a push.

Clay Aiken has the support of NC Teachers..... every time I see that sign I thank God I am sending my kids to private school.

If you are running against an idiot, its kinda just easy to point out they are an idiot.

To me, the people that attack all Republicans or all Democrats reek of the mouth breathing SEC homers; no particularly strong affiliation to any team but like saber rattling about the entire conference to feel important, but in reality are just gullible, manipulable twits.

If you want to vote for a third-party, then do it. Or, if you don't want to vote for anyone, at least go to vote on whatever amendments are on the ballot. I have friends who are abstaining from voting for any candidates, but will Vote for the state amendments.

I pray that Tom Corbett loses in PA.

But Tom Wolf scares me too. I hate elections anymore. All I hear from people is, "I voted for lesser of two evils." or, "He sucks so I'll vote for the other guy."

We need some major push towards a third major party in this country. Politicians are all the same.

Your last line leads me to think that even with a third party choice (which you get more often on more local races), that people will just end up saying I voted for the lesser of THREE evils, I voted for the one I hated least.

Very true. My hope, which is just that, is that a third party could really meet the needs of the masses. It has been said on here numerous times that many Americans fall into the moderate area of the political spectrum, and if that third party can deliver in the moderate middle, it could really do wonders for the people to not feel disenfranchised and used, etc.

the Tea Party? :p

The only way a third party/option would arise would be if Corporate america somehow fell out with the existing two and decided they needed a new puppet.

Kind of like saying I should start Rudy because he is a really good kid who tries hard instead of someone that can get the job done more effectively even if they don't throw as much heart into it. The third option would be a female cheerleader at LB which is stupid on all levels.

I voted Libertarian in the last Presidential Election and I felt great! I knew there wasn't much chance of a win, but the feeling that I voted for a candidate I believed in, rather than the same ole' corporate lesser of two evil scenarios many faced.

From Men in Black...
Kay: A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll know tomorrow.
