I know it would take a miracle from GOD and every star in the universe would have to align BUT the Irish are not completely out of the running for the #4 spot just yet. Again, I know this is stretch but still possible.

#1 Miss State needs 2 losses: @ #5 Bama, @ #10 Ole Miss, SEC Chipper. Would ND get the nod?
#2 FSU would need to lose 3 games so I just hope the win out to help ND's SOS.
#3 Oregon needs to lose 2 games: @ Oregon State and PAC 12 Chipper. Highly unlikely.
#4 TCU needs to lose 2 more games: Kansas, Iowa State, @ Texas. Would 2 losses give ND the nod?
#5 Bama needs to beat #1 Miss State, lose to #9 Auburn, lose in the SEC Chipper. Would 2 losses give ND the nod
#6 Baylor needs to lose 2 more games: OK State, Texas Tech, #12 K-State
#7 ASU needs to lose 2 more games: @ Oregon St, Wash St, @ #17 Arizona, PAC 12 Chipper. Could happen...
#8 Ohio State needs to lose 1 more game: @ Minnesota, Michigan (lopsided rivalry), B1G Chipper. Could happen...
#9 Auburn needs to lose to #15 Georgia and then beat #5 Bama.
#10 Ole Miss needs to lose @ Arkansas and then beat #1 Miss State.
#11 Michigan State needs to lose 1 more game: @ Maryland, @ Penn State. Could happen...
#12 K State needs to lose @ WVU and then beat #6 Baylor
#13 Nebraska needs to lose 2 more games: @ #21 Wisconsin, Minnesota, @ Iowa, B1G Chipper. Should happen.
#14 UCLA needs to lose 1 more game: USC or Stanford. Should happen.
#15 Georgia needs to beat #9 Auburn but then lose 1 more game: #23 Georgia Tech or SEC Chipper. Could happen...
#17 Arizona needs to lose 1 more game to either Washington or @ #22 Utah but then beat #7 ASU
#19 Clemson needs to lose 1 more game: @ #23 Georgia Tech, South Carolina, or ACC Chipper. Should happen.
#20 Duke needs to lose 1 more game: Virginia Tech, North Carolina, ACC Chipper. Should happen.
#21 Wisconsin needs to lose 1 more game: #13 Nebraska, @ Iowa, Minnesota, B1G Chipper. Should happen.
#23 Georgia Tech needs to lose 1 more game: #19 Clemson, @ Georgia, ACC Chipper. Should happen.
#25 Marshall needs to lose: Rice, Western Kentucky

#3 Ole Miss vs. #23 LSU
#4 Alabama @ Tennesee (tough environment, good coach)
#5 Michigan State vs. Michigan (in-state rivalry)
#11 K State vs. Texas (Longhorns are due)
#12 Ohio State @ Penn State (tough environment)
#14 Arizona State @ Washington (tough environment)
#19 Utah vs. #21 U$C

Can't see #4 or 5 losing this week.

We don't need anyone to lose, we just need to win out. No way MSU or Oregon get in over us at 11-1 and SEC will cannibalize.

I hear you about winning out. However, the more 2 loss teams there are, the less we have to sweat this thing out. Getting screwed over on national TV was the best way to lose so I think we are still good. I just don't wan to risk it so I will be rooting against everyone above us on the polls each week.

Any of them could lose... UT will get up for Bama eventually, too much of a traditional rivalry for it to continue to be so one sided... and that's the most, 'ain't gonna happen' game that I see there... LSU has not looked like a legit team all year but they do have the talent to get up for a big game... all of the others I could definitely see happening.

Anybody else catch Rod Gilmore's final 4 during the Arizona st./Stanford game. He replaced ND w/ Michigan St. and doesn't have Ole Miss in as of now. He's an idiot, and the problem is there are so many idiots and their opinions that go in to the polls etc.

I can only hope the committee does a good job. If ND can win out, which they are capable of for sure, but will be tough they have to be in. I really want another shot at Florida st. I could barely handle the combination of the b.s. call and Jimbo talking about his team's character. He has a look on his face during all his interviews like he doesn't even believe what is coming out of his mouth.

Sorry kind of derailed there for a moment......In regards to upsets, worry about what you can control. Win out, and they're in, the upsets will happen.

We need 1 or 2 of many possible scenarios.. (I'm showing realistic losses, not upsets.)

Stanford to beat Oregon

Auburn to lose to Ole Miss, Tx A&M, Bama or Georgia.

Bama to lose to LSU or Mississippi.

OSU to beat Mich St.

If we and FSU win out. One or maybe even two of these scenarios comes through, then we're in.

Unfortunately I can't agree with the no way part, especially Oregon. If ND and Oregon are both sitting with one loss at the end of the season, I would be shocked if ND is picked.

Honestly, I'm more worried about ND winning out than I am what teams in front of us do... as talented our boys are as a team, they are still young and a run of Navy, ASU, NW, UL, and USC is pretty difficult when it's done back, to back to back like that... I expect they may very well drop one...

I'll be at the OSU / PSU game. Was originally hoping for PSU to get curb stomped because it's PSU, but I will now hope for OSU to lose.

It'd be great if somehow both teams lost.

I'm sure if we win out and FSU does too, the media and BCS comittee folk will salivate at the opportunity of having a re-match between FSU and ND. Would make for great viewership nationally. The important part is going undefeated the rest of the way.

We want FSU, ASU and USC to win out (except for the latter two's games against us). Everywhere else, we want maximum chaos. 2-loss Conference Champs across the board would be ideal.

ha, with our luck we end fifth in the committee rankings by a couple of points and that call keeps us out....

If we go 11-1....

ACC: Obviously, we need FSU to win out.

B1G: I think we would get in over a 12-1 OSU. Would be tight with 12-1 MSU. If neither can get upset along the way, we need their game to be as close/ugly as possible.

Big-12: 11-1 TCU and 11-1 K-State could beat us out. I think we get in over 11-1 Baylor.

PAC-12: Only a 12-1 Oregon could beat us out from this conference.

SEC: Ideally Georgia goes 11-1 and just one West team goes 11-1, making the SEC Champ Game an elimination game. Disaster scenario is UGA 11-1, Ole Miss 12-0, Bama 11-1. UGA beats Ole Miss in Champ.

Yeah then all three and FSU get in.

Then it's:

#1 FSU vs. #4 Bama

And

#2 Georgia vs. #3 Ole Miss

Or flip them if committee doesn't want a rematch right away. Only problem is how do you rank Ole Miss behind Bama with head to head win?

Two powers within the same conference not playing each other for more than five seasons is embarrassing and should be mentioned more often... I just don't get it. How the hell do any teams from the same conference get away with never playing each other like that??

I feel pretty confident stating that the committee isn't going to pick 3 SEC teams, regardless of how the final polls look.

And have Jim Winston suspended for a yet to occur but inevitable infraction in early Jan.

UGA more often than not plays a Charmin soft schedule.

I just don't see how the Big 12 champ could beat us out. TCU gagged up a 3 TD lead to Baylor and I don't think anyone really believes Kansas State is a top 4 team in the nation. The only Big 12 team I worried about beating us out was Oklahoma.

When listing the tough games remaining for Georgia I was shocked. Total B.S. they avoid each other for so long. We just joined the ACC and we play FSU and Louisville in year 1...

I am confident OSU and MSU will both lose 1 more game. I doubt K-State finishes better than 3 losses with their remaining schedule. We need them to beat TCU tho. Oregon should win out. Maybe a tough PAC 12 Chipper but Stanford won't beat them this year. I truly think when the dust in the SEC West settles, the rep in the chipper will have 2 losses. I still hope Georgia wins the SEC and is one of the playoff teams.

If TCU goes 11-1 with just a 3-point loss at Baylor or K-State goes 11-1 with just a 6-point loss to Auburn, I think they'd have pretty good arguments. They would've beat some pretty good Big-12 teams along the way. Plus, TCU's blowout win over Minny is looking better and better.

I don't think Baylor at 11-1 would beat us out. Crappy loss and horrible OOC schedule. I think that other two would have a decent argument plus the whole "conference champion" thing people will hype up over ND. Who knows though? Baylor might beat everyone by 50+ to end the year and have a good argument with that offense.

If we go 11-1 (knocking out ASU), the playoff IMO is already down to just 14 other teams left who could make it with 0 or 1 loss. Really not entertaining the notion of a team like Marshall, ECU, Duke, Nebraska, Minnesota being likely to win out or get in with their schedules.

Independent: Notre Dame
SEC: Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia
ACC: Florida State
B1G: Michigan State, Ohio State
Big-12: TCU, Kansas State, Baylor
PAC-12: Oregon, Utah, Arizona

Thing is, it's just the midway point of the season really... almost all of this will sort itself out, ND winning out will at worst put them right in the thick of the final spot... with what lies ahead though a lot has to happen in favor of our boys before that's even an issue... most teams lose at least one of the next five games, it's not an easy stretch.

The highest viewing of any game since 2012. That 2012 game? Notre Dame. As much as people say ESPN hates ND, they love money! If ND wins out they get in because of the business side of it all. Losing by 4 on a call that brought back the game winning TD to an undefeated National CHampion Florida State doesn't hurt our case. We could not have lost in a better scenario.

I said this season feels a lot like 2012. We even got lucky in the way we lost! We may very well be going to the 'ship, y'all!
