Can mods add a poll to this thread: Do you want Jameis to play against ND?

I would be interested to see the results....

ESPN is reporting it. I don't recall Vegas stopping betting for the Clemson suspension, but that was at the 11th hour. The story is heating up, though, and there's plenty of time between now and Saturday for some good old fashioned media scrutiny.

We did it in the woods, never around houses. Not much difference between airsoft and bbs, a scronk enuff gun gonna do damage. There was an understanding that you only aimed low and no extra pumps of the gun. If you knew you were doing it you wore jeans and a sweatshirt b/c that shit stings on bear skin or even, GASP, can break the skin! Unless kids wore glasses normally, there wasn't any other eye protection.

Some of you guys sound like my wife with your gun phobia. She seems to think you can kill someone with a spitball.

Same here when I was a kid. BB gun fights were common, but we all understood the rules about aiming below the shoulders and being aware of what was behind our target (such as windows). Usually only something we did out in the country or in the woods, and not in town where there was a window-rich environment. It was always fun until someone got hurt... which was every time! :)

The rule for us was always a three pump limit, which usually meant 7-8 pumps. We wore goggles as well.

So I have a quick question. It was announced a few months ago that FSU was paying for an insurance policy on JW for him. How is that right? Does a University buy that for every kid? I know they offer insurance to students, but am not sure if is in line with that or not. Anyone know how it works?

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe the university pays for the insurance policy. The insurance company essentially lends the player the premium. If he's injured, he repays the premium from the insurance payout. If he isn't injured, he repays it from his contract money when he gets to the pros. It's NCAA-approved and gives a player a safety net so that he can keep playing at the college level instead of jumping to the pros.

I have a great BB gun story for you guys that I'll share later.

It involves a beer drinking game, after bar, sacrificing shots instead of 'points' in the game, medical research, going skins, and the emergency room.

Gotta be true then.

Multiple Las Vegas sports books halted betting on the Notre Dame-Florida State game Tuesday as uncertainty surrounding the status of Seminoles quarterback Jameis Winston escalated.

Uncertainty about Jameis Winston's status has led multiple Las Vegas sports books to take Saturday's Florida State-Notre Dame game off the board.
Florida State is investigating more than 900 Winston autographs that were authenticated by the same company that has been linked to suspended Georgia running back Todd Gurley.

Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher says he believes that Winston did not receive money for the autographs, but the speculation was enough to force sports books to be cautious with the point spread on Saturday's marquee game (8 p.m. ET, ABC). The Seminoles were 10.5-point favorites over Notre Dame at the Westgate SuperBook before the game was taken off the board.

"It doesn't make sense to keep it up right now," said Jay Kornegay, vice president of race and sports at the Westgate SuperBook. "You're only going to drive one-way action [to Notre Dame], so we're taking the cautious approach and see what happens."

LOL, so Jimbo wants us to believe ol' Jameis signed 900 autographs for a known dealer and he didn't take any money for it?

Jimbo must believe that Winston has only lied once in his life and that was when he "wasn't entirely truthful" about the incident where he yelled up on the table. But surely he must have learned his lesson and would never ever ever ever lie again.

Schools have a fund they are allowed to use for certain, NCAA approved, purposes such as a flight home for a death in the family. The NCAA recently approved it for player insurance premiums and there has been a proliferation in this use. I don't know if it's a "loan" to the player which the player pays back later or not. But it's permissible and it happens.

IDK how the FSU team can be focused this week, let alone Jaemis. I mean, two very serious allegations going on? I don't feel for him at all and I hope their team is a mess this week at practice. IDK how they couldn't be, honestly.

The same way ND can be focused with the academic violations going on.

Big difference IMO. ND has had 5 sitting out, which have not contributed this year at all. We'd be better with them, but the team got on fine so far. No game planning changes, no personnel switches, etc.. FSU's returning Heisman winner who led them to the NC last year is now the biggest stink magnet in sports and could get pulled at any moment.

... The guy has to find some way to put crabs on the table.

But, but, but ... what if Publix pursues the claw back option?

[I know it was crab legs, not claws, but go with the drift/gist.]

On college gameday earlier the talking heads said Jimbo turns it in to a 'us against the world' mentality. That in a sense it can bring the team closer and put a chip on their shoulder. Yield better results on the field.

If it's prolonged past the season, he'll walk away from the University and will never answer to anyone.

There was a lot of talk that Harbaugh has helped create the rumors in San Fran for this reason. Called it creative controversy.
