The Cornwell commitment to Bama yesterday probably sealed the deal for Kief. Can't confirm for sure however.

Urban must really hate Nick. LOL

Allow me to remind you of... Vonn Bell...

Urban Meyer stole Bell from Tennesee really, not so much Nick Saban.

Also, if you have to go back to last years class for a reference on how Urban beat out Nick for a recruit....... Nicks doing pretty well.

That's because there haven't been any tOSU/Bama recruits for this class so far. Maverty, Knox, Prince, Lattimore (only Lattimore is an Ohio recruit)... just to name a few are all uncommitted. And those are all out of the top of my head. Time will tell. Kief is gone. Probably the biggest loss to 'Bama since DePriest, but both are/were Cincinnati recruits. I am very optimistic we'll land Knox and Maverty. And Lattimore is a Glennville recruit. Prince..., we'll see.

Congratulations, Alabama. You got what appears to be a great STUDENT-athlete. Doesn't happen often. Cherish it.

It happens more than you think. Bama has several players that are/were tremendous student athletes. Kief appears to be no different and glad to have him on board.

1. Many times; frequently
2. In many cases

It does not happen more than I think. It happens occasionally (at times; from time to time; now and then).

One thing is for sure about Saban. He has done a tremendous job of developing players both on and off the field. In the classroom, in the NFL, in life in general. Does he miss the mark sometimes? Yes. But show me any program in America that doesn't.

Many of the recruits Saban has been getting in the last five years were heavily recruited by schools that have high academic reputations. If they were good enough for those schools then it would seem they would be good enough for Bama.

Kief appears to be an outstanding player as well as a student athlete. I wish him nothing but success at Bama both on the field and in the classroom.

Would have been glad to have him, I think he could turn out to be a good receiver. Also, I am not a big fan of Nick Saban, but I will say that anyone that spends a great deal of time chasing perfection, would prefer that those around them handle things in a professional manner, whether that is on the field, in the classroom, or around campus. He does a better job than most at keeping his team in line. Though I am not convinced that his care extends far beyond staying eligible and out of trouble for the few years that they can reflect on him.

Gonna be interesting to see his career. From the coaches and scouts i talked to, they just didnt see him being able to compete week in and out vs the SEC. Saban knows what he is doing, but Im kinda surprised

Nick Saban is an unbelievable football coach. He is a disciple of the greatest coach to ever walk planet earth (Bill Belichick) and his pedigree is rivaled by only a few. There is a spot sitting in the College FB HOF waiting for him when he retires.

With that said, it's laughable to insinuate he cares about anything besides what he is paid to do - win football games and Championships (SEC and National) - which he has proven to excel at.

Has he done a great job developing (on and off the field, in life in general, etc) the dozens of players he's pushed out of the program over the past 6 years because he no longer had a scholarship available for them? Exactly what life lesson was he teaching them then? The game of football inherently teaches life lessons. Nick Saban does not do anything extraordinary to develop student-athletes away from the football field, and judging by Alabama's seemingly high rate of incidents off the field, one could probably argue he lacks in the 'personal' development dept.

I don't blame Saban though. Like I said, he's doing exactly what he's paid to do, but let's not pretend Alabama is anything more than a football factory and, to echo my original comment, when they get a STUDENT-athlete like Kief, cherish it. It's good for the program.

Though I am not convinced that his care extends far beyond staying eligible and out of trouble for the few years that they can reflect on him.

Bingo!

Are you kidding me. Did you hear some of the interviews with former Alabama players before the NCG? They could barely put a complete sentence together. You are way off he mark with this one.

I don't disagree with a few of the points you are making. But I think we will just have to agree to disagree on some of the others.

One thing I think we can all probably agree on. Kief is a nice WR who has the potential to be a good college player if he works hard. Thanks.

Funny as hell. I remember when everyone thought Belichick was a moron. Gungho, yes. Crazy, definitely! At Cleveland he would run around getting in peoples faces, doing pushup challenges. In those days I think one could safely say the two appeared to be polar opposites!

Edit: Just to make it clear I am not making fun of anyone or calling anyone names. And I don't give a shiit what anyone calls anyone else. I will make my own decisions. I never thought that Bill should have gotten run out of Cleveland on a rail. I saw why Saban left. That was act one by the Clowns. Okay so I am making a little fun of the organization, the Cleveland Browns.
