The difference between Bosco and Servite are minimal as you know. The school with the problem is Mater Dei. Even though they are only a few miles from the other two schools, they are the only one who have to deal with that horrible wind as they are in Santa Ana.

88 3-star on 247 overall but a 4-star .94 247 composite score?

Loy addressed this question on the TOS forums last week (non-premium): Tom: ESB 247 rating

Our 247Sports national guys simply aren't as high on St. Brown as others. I've tried to watch him in person twice, in Detroit and in Oregon, and both times he ended up being injured and participating very little.
I am personally higher on St. Brown than his current rating of an 88 on 247Sports, but I also don't think he's a top 50 or 75 player nationally. I would rate him in the Top 150-200 range. I love his upside. I think he can develop into a terrific wide receiver. He's long, he's smart, he has above average hands and he has plenty of speed. He's a definite take in my book.

Biggins: ESB really enjoyed his visit. He will still visit UCLA, USC and Utah. Utah is recruiting him very hard. He had a great time with the Irish players and went out 2 nights with them. He had good talks with the coaches and understand how he would fit. He has no leader, is in no hurry and wants to find the best fit for him. He's comfortable at ND.

Note he thought the game day experience and crowd were incredible. And "no one left early"

Picking up ESB would land ND with a stud WR corps-two tall athletic WR's with Boykin-plus Sanders and Guyton! I would be ecstatic.

That's disappointing to hear. ESB can be forgiven for seriously considering UCLA, but USC and Utah? Really?

Dudebro Sark has already lost to BC and an ASU team without any brakes. And Utah's record over the last two seasons is 10-14. They're looking better this year, but it's still Utah...

lol 75%+ of the Stanford fans were gone by halftime... I'd say about 80-90% (depending on section) of ND fans toughed it out though.

Stanford fans were the biggest bunch of pussies I've ever encountered. Before the game it wasn't raining just mildly chilly and almost none of them would come out from indoors to tailgate. They were all crammed up inside the Joyce, LaFun, etc. and whining incessantly about the weather. Was unreal softness.

Aha weren't you on here a few days ago saying the weather in the midwest sucks? :D

I've got to think landing a top flight QB will help us with ESB. Receivers like to have someone to throw to them.

Pete said yesterday that "Notre Dame doesn't need anymore help with ESB" This will only help because him and Wimbush are close. But there has been rumblings about ESB wanting to stay on the West Coast

Not calling you or Pete out, but how close could Wimbush and ESB really be? Geographically, they almost couldn't be further from one another and never considered the same schools, let alone the same playing in the same conference. Maybe they met each other in summer camps, but when you know you're never going to play against/with that person, I doubt they've more than met and got along.

But I didn't even stay at a holiday inn express so what do I know.

There are two kinds of people; those that staying at a Holliday Inn Express helps, and those that it doesn't . . .

Way back when, I was close with a number of east coast guys after we were teammates on the camp circuit . We stayed that way through the recruiting process and I almost went to Navy to hoop with 2 of them. Needless to say, all we had was the telephone.

Now you possibly have schools like UK (basketball) & ND who can employ "GoToMeeting" team building sessions to help bond nationwide recruits into a cohesive unit... and recruit others at the same time. This type of tech along with other internet and cellular based options make being close easy.

I mean not to be Capt Obvious but there are guys on IE that talk to other members more than they do their wives or girlfriends.

C'mon ESB...pull the ND trigger already. We need more WR's with your height. Homesickness wears off. Just ask Greg Bryant.

IMO, ESB will be extremely hard to read down the stretch. His dad is 100% prepared for this process and is not going to show any cards that he doesn't want to.

I think we are in a good position for him. Obviously Stanford and UCLA are tough competition for any kid, especially California kids.

Agree. I felt the same way about the Hilliard/Cornell "package deal" (though it did turn out that way, I still think that had more to do with Cornell jumping on the best bus that'd have him). I get that these elite recruits have a shared experience most never will, but how tight could they really be? Not enough to base the biggest decision of their life around it.

I was just saying that ESB feels like someone who wants to know there's an elite QB throwing to him. Barnett was working him. He heated up again when it looked like we might have got that kid who went to Oregon. Got to think having Wimbush on board will settle his mind a bit. The biggest hurdles - as with so many SoCal kids - remain distance and culture.

I agree. He seems to have kept things very tight. Getting Wimbush certainly helps our case, but I sure would like for ESB to say something along the lines of "great pickup for ND" or something like that. Would help everyone feel a little better.

It was posted on the BGI board and Loy somewhat confirmed it but Stanford is no longer recruiting ESB and it sounds like USC may not for long as well. Loy compared it to the Luatua situation from last year. Hopefully it results in our gain.

That is good news. Looks like UCLA is our last main competitor right?

Btw, reps for the info LuckyLucci. I don't get to do it as much as I would like with all the stuff you give. Appreesh.

Yea, I think this Utah talk is more for show than legit interest. He just seems to want to show other schools are on him. Luatua literally did the same thing. Also it seems like UCLA really wants Broadus so I wonder how that works out with ESB.

After watching that Gorman game, I was little snoop too.

That certainly raises some questions and helps us.

I'd be more than happy with either of the two, but gun to my head - give me ESB. Can't teach size!

How much of this "no longer recruiting" talk is actually conceding?

That's an interesting idea but I really wouldn't think so considering it's thought mom wants him at Stanford and Dad wants him at USC. So I would think with knowing that, if those schools wanted him, they'd fight until the end hoping to win. Most likely they have guys on their board higher than ESB. Stanford appears to be going after Trent Irwin along with UCLA. UCLA is going after Irwin and Broadus. USC already has 3 committed and seem to be saving a spot for Christian Kirk.

Isn't it a bit silly to stop recruiting him considering he has younger brothers who seem to be studs as well? I'm hoping the St. Brown family is to Notre Dame as the Fuller family is to Virginia Tech.

Not sure if I have missed it or not, but is there an alleged reason why schools are backing off? Talent, grades, personality, something else?

If it based on talent, I think it is their loss and our gain. I would take this kid all day long.
