Sorry if this already made the rounds and whatnot, but I didn't catch it...

Sean Bean confirms that Ned isn't Jon's real father: Game Of Thrones Actor Leaks Spoiler About Jon Snow's Father

I know all evidence pointed to this, and it's been discussed infinity, but still surprising to see it stated out in the open like that. Makes me excited for Bran's flashback scenes via Heart Trees, whenever they may happen.

It’s a good theory! And that should happen, shouldn’t it? I’ve definitely got some unfinished business that needs to be resolved there. I’m obviously not Jon Snow’s dad. And you need that to be revealed at some point, don’t you?So Bran would kind of be the one having the flashback, and he would see Ned praying, right? And revealing those things? You never know what those guys are going to do with that. It’s got to be something special. But I’m into that. I certainly would be into that. Print that! Give them a nudge. [Laughs.] Hopefully I’ll get a call soon.

Ive seen this before. While the theory is as air tight as fan theories go, i have a hard time believing Bean was given that info as fact. The only way they told him that for sure is if they know they are going to need to shoot with him again. Tower of joy??? Get hype.

I have no expectations on a release date anymore. I'm not reading anything about the series until the release date is announced. I'm just getting it out of my life.

Of all the things on that page that get me excited, I think I most look forward to Arya's return to Westeros, and the potential for her to link up with Nymeria. Having at her disposal not only her new-found assassin master skills, but also a pack of wolves, should lead to some delightful karmic retribution (but then also heartbreak somehow).

Thanks for the great link as always WJ. One of my favorite things about this site is this thread.

The most telling thing I gathered from the above stated link is this:

Robert’s Rebellion: “By the time I finish A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE, you will know everything there is to know about Robert’s Rebellion.” (source) GRRM has also said we will learn about Rhaegar/Aerys tensions, much more about the Harrenhal tourney, Ned’s return after the war, whether Arthur Dayne truly supported Aerys, why Benjen joined the Night’s Watch, whether Rhaegar and Lyanna were in love.

I swear...if GRRM dies before he finishes this I'll kill him.

he'll finish this next one...I predict just in time for Christmas 2015...its the one(s) after that which has me worried.

I still say the final/last "installment" of all things ASOIAF is going to be on the "big screen" and NOT in a book OR on HBO.
they already have dealings with IMAX it can see that leading to a "grand finale" on a big IMAX screen.
what would be cool is if they did like a 4-5 hr IMAX "epic" (at this stage of my life much rather devote the half day to a finale than a month to a 1500 page seventh book.) or-maybe they do both if GRRM lives till he's 85 and can still write.

Absolutely. I love Martin's reference to Chekhov's Gun:

“You know, I don’t like to give things away.” says Martin, a grin spreading across his face. “But you don’t hang a giant wolf pack on the wall unless you intend to use it.”

...(but then also heartbreak somehow).

All but guaranteed. I expect her story arc to get very dark. Lots of revenge, surely, but it won't be clean or satisfying. And really, who is going to be left for Arya to kill? So many of her targets are already dead, or likely to die by someone else's hand.

The most telling thing I gathered from the above stated link is this:

I was relieved to read that as well. Robert's Rebellion was the seminal event for everything that's happened in the series, and yet we know so little (and speculate so much) about what actually happened. Thank God GRRM has promised to spell it all out eventually... assuming he lives long enough to do so.

I hate to break it to you but GRRM has already stated many times that it's looking increasingly likely that he will require an 8th instalment.

If you're looking to get a little GoT/SoIaF fix, I really enjoyed this game. Think of it as an interactive choose your own adventure, with a lot of blood and political intrigue.

forget GRRM...half his readers may be dead by the time he finishes an 8th book.

It's only one episode so far (3-4 hours worth of play) but yes. It puts you in the shoes of members of House Forester (a minor house in the north) as they try to cope with the consequences of what's going on in the main story. Highly recommend it if you've ever found yourself second guessing the decisions the characters make in the books.

edit: read how as "have" in your original question. It plays like a Myst meets a choose your own adventure. The bulk of your input is gong to be making quick decisions on how to respond to (mostly) dialogue.

For example, say the game put you in the shoes of Arya right before Ned's execution (it doesn't). Once you realized that Joffrey was going to have him executed, you'd get four options (stay silent, turn away, yell "no", run forward) and about 3 seconds to choose which one you'd do

It's from a user named honeypot? on reddit where she went to look at the original ADWD manuscripts at TA&M. One of the editors asked GRRM if Coldhands was Benjen in the margins and he replied no. That manuscript is now closed until TWoW comes out.
