He didn't JUST commit to UCLA. He's been committed for a while.

He committed to ucla like 10 months ago.

And just for perspective, he's visited ND unofficially 3 times. Still planning to use his OV. So he'll have visited 4 times over the last two years. Thats some serious interest.

Thanks...........I thought he sounded familiar but when I saw the post from JohnnyC on the 12th I assumed he just committed.

Rob Cassidy of rivals was at his game last night and did a video interview. Nothing really new. Academics are important as Aliz'e has promised his parents he'll get his degree. Has family in LA which seems to be of some benefit to UCLA at this time. Only talking to ND and UCLA, so we at least know our competition and vice versa. We keep in regular contact with him and he's listening. He is well aware of the TE U that ND has established. Remaining committed to UCLA as of right now. No talk of OV or future visits.

Besides ND or UCLA, from what I heard. ND believes he is coming to the banquet for his OV. I am sure he will be at UCLA again as well.

I thought it was interesting that he mentioned UCLA and academics, and when talking about ND, he talked about how they sold him on getting him into the league. Usually that script is flipped, lol.

As I understand it, visiting for the banquet is a big deal. What exactly goes on at that time?

I forget your a rivals newbie. Yea that was flipped when doing the interview. I think that's what seals it for us. We do both better than UCLA.

I don't know specifics but in general I think it's because the whole team is together with coaches and usually a lot of recruits. Seems like a big family atmosphere and I imagine the guys have some fun afterwards.

Just keep the 5 families in a corner and away from the recruits..... If any of them are there that is...

Well, there's dinner...
No, they've sort of done up the awards ceremony aspect of in recent years. Also a lot of player families and speechmaking, maybe a better way to get a sense of the real culture of the program than during a game weekend. Also, there's no game, so the coaches can probably focus a little more on the recruits.
Downsides: There's no game. And it's December.

I'm sure most here will disagree or think that it's hypocritical since I love college football so much, but that was one of the douchiest and most hilarious things I've ever seen. I mean seriously? Having the high school boys doing shirtless dips? Having them talk and growl like grown men? The whole thing reminded me of when my nieces put their three year old feet into their moms high heels and clomp around.

You think the guy in the beginning, assuming it is the coach, could have pressed his shirt...

Yeah it's cheesy and awkward to adults, but I'm sure those kids (and Sandusky) were fired up about it.

Yeah, that's not really for us. That's for the players, and potential future ones. The high school equivalent of our Shamrock Series unis. Whatever.
Like Jackalope said, that was definitely not reflective of my high school football experience either. But then we weren't #2 in the country, and we didn't have Final Cut and Vimeo back in 1996.

My school's weight room was in a repurposed storage space, and it still looked like an overgrown, run-down closet, even after the painting and adding the old, shitty, boring workout equipment.

It was an 18x18 square, with a smaller 12x12 square attached to it. Our benches and squat racks were donated by a Golds Gym that closed, and our leg press machine only worked for like three years. Our free weights were a random, mix-and-match assortment, and there were three 45 lb plates that clearly weighed less than the other 45 lb plates.

I would have been useless in an environment like the one in that Gorman video... I would have been in awe at first, and then thought it was overkill after that haha.
