Remember when he stated that ND was his ideal school and the only thing keeping him from signing with them was proximity to home...did he suffer amnesia at some point within the last 2 months?

Am I hoping/reading into this too much thinking ND has a chance since he is announcing on NBC? I really wanted Cowart...seemed like a RKG with a great southern football ability. Was hoping he would come to ND for a game at least.

Yes, to be honest you are reading way to much into it. But he is gonna be a great football player, just not for ND.Plus you called him a RKG so this post loses.

This post is all very off, extremely off IMO

Nope. Page 4 of this thread a few posts down. Proof is in the pudding. Stated exactly as I posted.

Ok, you are right he did say that but in recruiting actions are a lot louder then words. I realized he said that but after that interview he has never once even brought up ND. He was never coming here and he will be committing to Florida soon like he was all along.

Is he still coming back for the Stanford game? Because according to him that visit was set in stone remember? He chose to go to Maryland over ND. Shows how much interest he had in ND

Committing to Florida makes sense to me. Since the one thing keeping him from leaving the state was the proximity to home, which was of great importance. That being said, it doesn't make sense why you'd speak so highly, and I mean VERY highly, of Notre Dame, just to blow them off for Oregon and....Maryland? Really? Probably a moot point anyways, since I don't see him in anything other than a Gator jersey.

I understand what you are saying but almost every recruit always says something great and nice coming off visits. Doesn't mean it's where they are gonna go to school. It's just one of those things were he speaks highly of a school but it's not really an option.

I mean, I get that, but the comments he stated about ND weren't just the typical, "Yeah, I can see myself playing for ND" or "Yeah, they're definitely a great school". He pretty much flat out said that ND was his ideal fit, and he'd be a hypocrite to go anywhere else, unless he couldn't overcome the proximity to home factor, which is looking like he can't.

Yeah, this one's got to be Florida, right?
Did he visit Maryland? I do not understand the appeal of that program, but they punch above their weight in recruiting.

I have never understood this fascination with Oregon. Oregon plays basketball on grass, score fifty points and give up forty, and this style of offensive play would not appeal to a defensive lineman with NFL aspirations.

I disagree, all you do as a DL at Oregon is pass rushing (because the O scores at will and is generally ahead on the scoreboard) and that's what makes you the best money in the NFL

FWIW, he told the FSU 247 site on the 16th that he's pushing back his decision date to the Under Armour Game. He said that he wants to follow the teams he's looking into and coaching stability is one of those things he's following. Five finalists are The Gators, Terrapins, Florida State, Alabama and Oregon are Cowart's five finalists.

Damn I really wanted this kid to visit for the Stanford game. Sucks ND didn't make his top 5.

With all the pass rushing opportunities Oregon's basketball on grass offense affords its defensive linemen, why aren't any, besides Haloti Ngata, playing in the NFL. Dion Jordan? The Miami Dolphins would like their money back on that first round blunder! Besides Patrick Chung and Kiko Alonso(and aforementioned Ngata), who has Oregon sent to the NFL that is worth a hoot?

IE... he want's to push back his decision in the case of Will Muschamp getting fired. lol

There were 2 Scout articles, one Byron said he may announce the 28th or at the UA game with the teams you note. Then the second article, more recent, quoted his coach saying the 28th with UR or Oregon. Either way, we out.

Agreed. This begs the question, why does this guy have such an interest in Oregon with their severe lack of defensive prospects in recent years. Meanwhile, we just pumped out 2 DL in the first 3 rounds just last year.

Yep, I'm convinced this kid suffered amnesia moments after leaving Irish Invasion. I don't see how you go from making a statement like he did, pretty much putting ND on it's own pedestal, unparalleled by anybody, and not even give them a second thought a few months later. Florida was always going to be an almost insurmountable obstacle, due to proximity to home, but Alabama, Oregon and...Maryland? Really? Alabama is understandable, but Oregon and Maryland?

Are you not aware that they have over a thousand different uniform combinations?

Maryland has Mike Lock$ley as their OC who is a little questionable IMO. Pretty much brought in Diggs by himself along with some 5-star OL last year.

He was the Illinois OC from 2005-2008 when they started cleaning up recruiting.

He's either a master recruiter or he's dirty. He was 2-26 as a head coach at New Mexico, so he doesn't have much business being a coordinator at Power 5 school.

Neither was Illinois when they got Benn, Tez Wilson, and D'Angelo McCray.

ND lost out to Illinois on all of those guys in the 2007 class. We were coming off a 10-3 year, they were coming off of a 2-10 year.

Funny/stupid recruiting things tend to happen everywhere Locksley has gone.

At Locksley's previous stint at Maryland, I believe he was also implicated in violations while recruiting Victor Abiamiri. Locksley is as shady as they come.

His OV's have been set and are as follows. Bama on 10/18, Florida (11/15), Oregon (11/22), and Florida State (11/29). Remember he already used one to Maryland last weekend. Basically, it was a free trip.
