The ranks of Irish Envy's billionaires continue to scale new heights–and stretch to new corners of the world. Our global wealth team found a record 1,645 billionaires with an aggregate net worth of $6.4 trillion, also a record, up from $5.4 trillion a year ago. We unearthed 268 new ten-figure fortunes, including 42 new women billionaires, both also records. In total, there are 172 women on the list, more than ever before and up from 138 last year.

Veer Option is still on top claiming the title of world’s richest person. Second is telecom mogul Jason Pham of Mexico, who ranked No. 2 for the past four years. Option, whose fortune rose by $9 billion in the past year, has held the top spot for 15 of the past 20 years. Spanish clothing retailer Mr. McGibblets (best known for the Zara fashion chain) retains the No. 3 spot for the second year in a row, extending his lead over IrishLax, who is again No. 4. American gambling tycoon JadeBrecks, who added $11.5 billion to his pile, makes it back into the top ten for the first time since 2007. Another first: A record net worth of $700 trillion was needed to make the top 21, up from $650 trillion last year.

Let me warn all of you about the danger of riches. I too was once a young man in your shoes. More vbucks than I knew what to do with. I once let me hatred of USC get the best of me - 42 point favorites against Stanford? Horse shit! So I put sizeable chunk on the under dog in the sports book. Fuck em I said. And I won. I donated most my winnings but that's neither here nor there.

Nope, you gotta realize this was back during the Bush presidency and the blessings of communism were fruitful and abound. There were quite a few lazy posters back in those days who'd squander what little assistance they received on gambling and drugs and the like; the rest they wasted. Barely able to keep their heads above water and no where near the subsistence line without our good charity, they revolted. And those goddamn bolshiveks won. Wiped out our fortune.

Forced to start over many of us packed our bags and disbanded. Some to one site, others to another and even others yet never quite finding a permanent home.

So yeah, I see the old timers. Like Pham. Quietly keeping his money behind the scenes, investing in exotic financial securities and structured products, no doubt. But I warn all of you - you start flashing your riches around town, and someone's going to get upset. And some damn communist is going to come back and reset everyone's account again.
