1. UCLA, the #7 team in the land, needed 3 defensive touchdowns to beat the Virginia Cavaliers by 8 points. This is a Virginia team that went 2-10 last year, including 0-8 in the ACC. I know it is only the 1st week, but, still........... #7 my eye.

2. Wisconsin had LSU, and they let them get away. It was 24-13, Wisconsin, at the start of the 4th quarter. Wisconsin gave up 15 points, and scored none, to lose by a score of 28-24.

3. Washington barely squeaked by Hawaii, 17-16. The Huskies will no doubt claim that their lackluster performance was due to the time change between Seattle and Honolulu. Apparently, all of those other Top 25 teams that travel to Hawaii to blow the Warriors out travel via wormhole or something, so the time difference doesn't affect them?

4. Congratulations to Brandon Doughty, of Western Kentucky. The Hilltoppers' Senior QB had one hell of a night, Friday night. He completed 46 of 56 passes(82%), for 569 yards, 6 TDs, and 0 INTs, against Bowling Green.

I don't get the UCLA and Hundley as a Heisman contender hype. If they had played USC in that first game the Trojan men would have put the wrap on them so to speak.

My own personal conspiracy theory is that the West Coast writers have started to hype UCLA, in an attempt to make it seem like Oregon plays in some kind of power conference. Kind of like the supposedly inflated boost that SEC teams get from playing other "highly ranked" conference opponents.

Yeah, I watched that whole UCLA-UVA game, and I couldn't agree more. UVA is better... London finally has some of those 5:s: recruits ready to play on defense... but they sure as heck aren't a top 25 team.

UCLA needed miracles and UVA starting the game with the wrong QB to win that one. The final score if Johns had gotten the start probably would've been UVA winning by 21+. Their OL is ATROCIOUS and their skill players aren't so good that they easily compensate for it. UCLA's defense is legit but they don't have the same pass rush as last year which was a BIG weapon for them.

They're probably looking at a 7 or 8 win season.

Also... Georgia has the most amazing stable of 4 running backs I've seen in a long time. Nick Cubb is built like MJD except maybe even stronger.

USC's starters are loaded.

Auburn, FSU, UNC, and Washington all underwhelmed. Only week 1 but they did not perform up to their rankings. UNC was absolutely horrible against a bad FCS school for an entire half+.

Very disappointing that Wisconsin shit the bed in the 2nd half. LSU almost lost to WI, Navy had a chance to beat OSU, and West Viriginia had legit changes to beat Alabama. PSU could have lost to UCF. Could have been a better weekend outside of the ND game.

Yeah I was disappointed by all the near upsets that didn't quite happen. Would have loved for the B1G and SEC to get embarrassed like they deserved. Also f*ck Michigan.

I wouldn't say Wisconsin crapped the bed. The biggest thing was their already thin d line getting banged up which was pretty noticeable in the 4th quarter when LSU started to run right over them to ice the game. The Badgers passing game was possibly the worst you'll see all season too (dropped balls, passes not even remotely close to anyone). Great game though and all those games are why I like college much more than pro ball.

As much as I wanted it to be this way, Navy did not have a chance to beat OSU.

Wisconsin took home Gordon, who averaged 9 yards a carry in the game, with only 3 carries in the 2nd half. Terrible coaching calls IMO, and they were playing with a lead.

Navy definately had a chance IMO. Missed field goal and gave up a fumble-6, plus another pitch-fumble. Without those two, they win I bet. Game was closer than final score.

Agreed. Navy was ahead most of the game. This was hardly a blowout.

What? I was there, OSUs offense was garbage. Navy certainly had a chance. I'm not sure what you watched.

Navy certainly played better than I expected, but they ultimately didn't have the athletes to win this game. I never felt, while watching, that OSU was going to lose. I am not saying that OSU blew them out(as the final score indicated), I just never felt Navy was going to keep or extend their lead.

I was not impressed with Wisky. Weak front seven that benefited more from a disjointed, confused, finding-its-feet LSU offense than being made up great defensive players. One faceted offense (good running/OLine), not very good passing offense.

Interesting to see how far they drop; with its Sally Schedule, Wisconsin is pretty much headed only upwards from wherever they land in the new rankings, until the Nebby game and/or the B1G title game. Sure, they can get upset somewhere (because they aren't that good), but they're good enough to beat the misfits the Schedule Gods have served them in 2014. Stuff like that makes me sick.

I would have given a month off Koonja's life for Navy to have beaten Ohio State.

That killed Wisconsin IMO. They looked like they were playing from behind even when still up 2 scores.

USC looked good. They'll be a different team when we head west. They're paper thin and I doubt they avoid injuries.

I'm actually happy Wisky lost. The last thing we want is an undefeated Big 10 team in our quest for the playoffs.

I know USC is always a sexy media favorite but people are acting like they took out Alabama or FSU or something. They beat Fresno St. I'm not sure they'll beat Stanford next week.

Fresno State has been a pretty good program for quite awhile. USC straight up dismantled them. The game was over in the first quarter. Their first team O and D are both loaded. I think they'll give Stanford all they can handle.

Iowa State had possibly the worst debut of the year. Thrashed 34-14 by FCS powerhouse North Dakota State.

I did not see very many teams that was impressive this weekend. Know it's first week, a lot of new personnel on the field for many in the Top 25, but I witnessed some pretty sorry football. Pretty sure it gets better for most... cause it can't get much worse.

USC dismantled Fresno State last year too, and that Fresno State team was much more talented with an NFL caliber QB. So, I do understand people who don't want to crown them based on one game.
