Strong words from Reggie here.

Bush said that despite Riddick's meager playing time, the young back is ahead of where Bush himself was after his rookie season.

"He has a natural given ability to be able to make people miss in space," Bush said "... He's far more advanced now compared to where I was as a rookie. I wasn't as good of a natural runner, it took me a couple years to get to that point and he already kinda has that. So, I'm sure you'll see him used a lot in the passing game this year and the running game."

Cool prediction from my favorite fantasy football sites:

Fantasy Football News and Analysis - FFToday

Who takes the role of Darren Sproles – the shifty, multifaceted running back who can run the ball and make plays as a receiver in the open field - in Detroit? Backup QB Dan Orlovsky has an idea. His bold prediction: Theo Riddick will catch at least 50 passes. “This kid, he wasn’t covered a single time in OTAs and minicamp,” Orlovsky said. "If he doesn’t have 50 catches this year, I’ll be surprised. He’s going to have opportunities and he’s really talented at it.” (Detroit Free Press)

FFToday's Take: With two very adept receivers ahead of him in Reggie Bush and Joique Bell, Riddick appears to be a longshot to fulfill Orlovsky's prediction. However, New OC Joe Lombardi saw the three-back system work well in New Orleans and is reportedly installing the same offense in Detroit that the Saints use. Bush also stated earlier in the offseason that Riddick is a more complete back now that he was at the same age. Riddick has the skill set to be fantasy-relevant in 2014.

Riddick and Bell are going to take a good amount of carries away from Bush. A lot of mock fantasy drafts I've been doing has been going 3rd-4th rounds.

A lot of people are looking at his 1,000 on the ground and 500 receiving yards last year, which I'm highly skeptical he duplicate if Bell and Riddick continue to perform.

Well he's a great complement to Megatron. I was just confirming that it's Bush going that high and not Riddick.

From the local radio guys, Theo has impressed so much he may slot right in as the 3rd down back and push for a big share of playing time.

I love hearing this & seeing this (thanks for the gif). Theo was the heart of the offense in 2012, so many ankle breaking runs. The run against Oklahoma to seal the deal, the runs against USC. He was simply lights out.

Looks like Theo is going to get his first big chance this Sunday. Both Reggie Bush and C.J. look to be out vs the Vikings - NDs 2nd pro team.

Can't wait. Hope he has a break out game. The Lions have to get their running game going.
