After we essentially eliminated ourselves by taking White (not saying it's a bad move), we did PSU a favor by shortening Reid's list of favorites from 2 (ND and PSU) to 1 (PSU).

Right. What I find interesting is did we think White was the better player or did we think that Reid was going to string the process out too long? I'd be interested in hearing that conversation between the coaches. Now that Reid is ready to decide and not take all season, would we have done the same?

IMO, it was a combination of both. Reid and White being comparable and White willing to do it now. Just an interesting thought.

Agreed. "Bird in the hand", etc. I have no regrets about taking White.

Hopefully I didn't give the impression, Because I don't either and like has been stated in the past he has the better versatility of the two and when combined with the other CB's it's a perfect fit

Reid might be ready to decide because ND has moved on. Maybe he finally woke up that he doesn't have infinite options and that "taking your time" is not always good advice.

If you a near five-star recruit, stringing out the process will have no consequences. For other kids, it might be fun, but you are going to miss some opportunities.

All indications are that we gave him the heads up prior to us taking White and maybe even Coleman. He visited campus and we recruited him fairly hard. He kept telling the staff that regardless of what they did/said he wanted to take visits. So, we invited White and Coleman to campus, saw what we wanted and offered.

Take this stuff with a grain of salt but its always interesting to read. Apparently a member of BGI has a godchild that plays football with John and he wants to be at ND.

Could he play safety? With the recent offers going out, I'm wondering if he might be more of a "take" for the staff now.

IMO, doubtful he could play safety. Really good prospect, was dumb to sit on his offer when he knew spots were limited.

If someone would be willing to get me up to speed with him? What's the verdict on this kid? I haven't followed his recruiting. Been long lost from the site for about 8 months. Too much going on with work, Master's program, and coaching.

I'm not sure about Justin playing safety, but could Ross? Then we could take justin as another corner.

Agreed, he was given a very nice and easy chance. Spent loads of time of campus with all coaches. A lot of 1 on 1 time talking scheme with BVG. It was a layup but he wanted to take OV's then turns out he doesn't want to take OV's.

I hope we reassess our stance here with Reid. I think he would fit in very well here, and if those rumors of him really wanting to be here are true, then I would accept his commitment immediately. I think that Ross is a great talent, but I am not sure that his camp is on board with the grand scheme of things that ND offers. Just my opinion.

I'd still really like Reid to be a part of this team. I'd be happy with 2-3 more secondary members. I know that is a large number but the nickel and dime packages will be used more frequently as we play more ACC teams every year and move away from the power football of MSU and (UM, ha ha).
