I don't know. I've come to find that there's Harvard, Yale & Princeton... and then the next group of 20 usual suspects including the rest of the Ivy League, MIT, Stanford, ND, Duke, Vandy, Northwestern, JH, Chicago, Rice.

In ultra competitive job fields it comes down to the right program at the right school but to average hiring stiffs like me, an undergrad degree from Stanford is the same as ND and the as Columbia....

The pride in the Notre Dame network though is right there with the Big 3 and maybe Duke is in the group too. Stanford and Northwestern do not carry the same level of enthusiasm as those 5 schools. At least that has been my experience.

Oh boy ...

ND is not on the same level as Stanford. Or most of those schools.

I love ND. But I'm reasonable enough to admit we just aren't on that level.

Is there an infamous thread discussing ND's place in the ranks of colleges?

I didn't see it if so.

Is there an infamous thread discussing ND's place in the ranks of colleges?

I didn't see it if so.

The problem is that it becomes a circular discussion every time. Unlike most college football boards, where 95% of people attended the school or grew up in the region that supports the school and therefor think its the greatest place on earth, ND fans have a really wide array of backgrounds.

So it starts off with someone saying "ND is awesome" or "ND is not that awesome." Usually this is the result of a recruit making a comment about academics that applies to ND in some way. Then someone chimes in with either "actually, ND is not quite that awesome" or "actually, ND is a bit more awesome" respectively.

Then comes the stats and stat debate. ND is a top 20 school by the most commonly cited survey and offers great degree value in terms of career earnings potential. The business school is highly rated, graduate programs are not. ND doesn't have great research. And the kids that choose to attend ND have comparable academic profiles to those that decide to attend the Ivies outside of the Big 3.

Then once you get done getting inundated by stats that all point towards "ND is a really, really good school with really, really smart students but probably a step behind the truly elite Top 5 or Top 10 style schools in the US"... Whiskeyjack will ride in and drop knowledge bombs. These knowledge bombs put everything in perspective and also clarify how the educational opportunities apply to football players.

And then the discussion burns out. And one of the mods has to cleanup all the OT posts.

So for the people who have been here awhile, it's gotten predictable and repetitive and tiresome.

AMEN

So after all the positive news on ESB yesterday, does anybody know what that stemmed from? Was it the possibility of another summer visit, or was it something else? Man if we get him to go with Boykin they can learn under a seasoned Corey Robinson, who IMO will be. Team captain by next year. That's three huge receivers to hopefully change our red zone woes!

Yeah it would be awesome if each thread had a sub thread for only links of actual recruiting updates....

I think someone posted on the MB, you can't take anything seriously on there but some people do enjoy talking football once in a while.

Mom prefers Stanford, dad likes USC but they both love ND as a package. I just hope he feels up to leaving the OC for South Bend.

ESB seems ranked suprisingly low for a kid with his measurables. Wonder why? Is it really that good a year for WRs?

Just watched his season highlight film. Catches the ball in traffic, and on the fade, really really well. Does a decent job blocking. Didn't look blazing fast against most of that talent (I have know idea what the talent level is where he plays). Composite top 10 is pretty good IMO.

Servite's record last year was 6 - 6, playing in the Trinity League. They play against the best, and may have played the toughest schedule in California. This year, they are ranked nationally(Maxpreps has them at 10). Servite has another difficult schedule this year, opening their season in Las Vagas against Bishop Gorman. I hope ESPN makes the game available nationally. Travis Waller will have two St Browns' for targets. Equanimeous' younger brother, Osiris, plays wide receiver as well.

The Trinity League is to high school football conferences what the Chicago Public League is to H.S. basketball conferences. It is LOADED.

Attended USC's first practice of the fall last night.

Also, one site apparently reported that he committed to USC last night. When a reporter called and asked him about it, Brown had no idea what he was talking about and said he definitely did not commit. Conspiracy theorists now claim that he's a silent and that's why there's confusion lol.

So you're saying this is like a 6 on the panic scale?

Is it possible? :whoknows: I guess.

Is it more likely just Schraeder being a dumbass and their dumbass fan base eating it up at the TOS? Yeah, probably. We'll find out in the few few months. In the meantime I'm sure they'll crow like they know something they don't.

Is Schraeder the one who called the Hayes commit? If so I might worry a lil cause he called that and everyone was saying he was a fool.

Not that it means anything to you guy's but TrojanWarrior1 on 247 says he/she knows for a fact Schraeder is sitting on 2 silent commits to SC and ESB is not one of them. Idk how credible that is though.

He got the scoop that the Hayes family was moving to SoCal. Obviously that was unexpected.

Schraeder has had plenty of backtracking to do in his tenure. I mean, he is a fool and an arrogant one at that. Just look at this incident. He posts on a major recruiting site that a kid committed to the university that he covers. Then he has to take down the post immediately, because it's not true. Even if ESB did give a "silent" commitment, whatever that means, how embarrassing for the USC staff. And if it's not true at all and this was just a routine visit? How embarrassing for the USC staff.

Schraeder had to eat major crow when USC's class fell apart in 2012. He's a total homer.

Well we'll know in 24 hours... Schraeder is a last minute CB'er. Only in the 72% range and often gets no points as he's cherry picking off of others' intel right before it pops. The guy is worse than a hack, he's a cheater. No wonder he's the SC guy.
