He is taking OVs to Notre Dame and Oklahoma; he is looking at the Michigan or Stanford game. He says the tradition and alumni and Notre Dame are amazing. He really likes the small town feel and the school is just perfect to him.

We did not get any earlier reports from him about his visit because he doesn't like the publicity and doesn't want to get caught up in the media bs.

Michigan is obviously the big one, but that Stanford game is quietly setting up for some big time OVs.

TIFWIW but a poster on II that has some credibility it seems is saying he talked with Ross's speed coach. We are the clear #1 and he wanted to commit on his trip. Not sure when he will but sit good here. Per TJ Ross is still a take which makes me very happy.

Agreed. Are there any other DBs on the board that are takes right now, or is Ross the only one?

Good question as that was part of the conversation. Marshall, Tell, and Ross were the names TJ mentioned as still takes. I imagine there are other names too like Sheffield but that conversation revolved around Cali CB's

Agreed I just wanted to point out that those aren't the only 3.

Would Ross be CB or Safety for us?

One of the reasons he's still a take is his versatility. CB or S even potential WR. I think his best upside is as a CB. Needs technique work but his combination of size and raw athleticism makes him a very quality prospect, IMO. If you can't tell, I love what this kid brings to the table.

Even though I am disappointed about Reid, we already have the same type of player with potentially more upside in White. So it makes sense that we would move forward with a kid like Ross instead, especially with the versatility he brings to the table. I really hope we can pull this one off because he truly is a good one!

Loy just put in a CB for him. If anyone has any extra info that would be great

Finally getting some info from his trip. He spent the entire trip (4 days with coach) attached at the hip of Coach Cooks. We laid out the red carpet and he walked away understanding the difference between UCLA/USC and ND. We have since followed that up with going all in on him (dropping Reid) and he's taken notice. Is genuine in wanting a strong academic program.

Nothing about timing or potential visits. I'll post more if he posts on the board

There isn't really much to go on. He keeps things hush-hush for the most part... not all about the "process" and giving interviews/getting hype like many other prospects. One of the reasons he's pretty criminally underrated (by most services) for an Army All-American.

I mean... Ross made a multi-day visit to ND with his head coach... and there was basically no reporting on it. Chris Clark would've given twenty interviews and three different top 5s coming out of that visit.

Some unverifiable sources who may or may not know what they're talking about think we're the team to beat. In fact, some people citing things like speed coaches and such on other boards say we are WAY out in front.

He has offers from all the major west coast schools... USC, UCLA, and Oregon. His best trait, IMO, is that he is an incredibly short strider for his length and changes direction really well for someone his size. Could play S, CB, or WR. Incredibly versatile and a very top target for the staff.

thanks lucci someone said something about this on his thread yesterday but it is nice to see that it is real. He is a versatile athlete that I covet. Not as polished at corner as Marshall but he is an explosive athlete and can play both corner safety and wide receiver

I'm much higher on him than some but I think he could be one of the best CB's in this entire class with Cooks coaching him. However, it will take time. Guys like Marshall are ready now but by the time Ross is a JR/SR, I think he could be just as good.

Loy says he's all about the academic side of things, and left understanding the differences the California schools offer academically compared to what ND can offer. Mentioned he was attached to Cooks hip the whole visit. Not a whole lot of info to why Tom CBd

On previous page I noted that there are some people who may or may not be in the know who claim we've got a heavy lead citing different sources.

Ross doesn't talk, so you're never going to have anything from the horse's mouth.

Yep missed that. On my phone, post didn't send right away for some reason. As always Preciate it. Ross would be huge.

He is going to be a huge pickup if we land him. He'll end up at CB, unless we end up with some unreal shutdown corners over the next few years. Tall receivers are a lot easier to find than tall corners. He needs some polish, but he has all the athleticism to play corner at a very high level.

Seems to me that Cooks could be Loy's Gug inside connection. He got the early scoop on Crawford and hopefully this one ends up the same.

That's an interesting thought. I always wonder who these guys get their information from. On Crawford and Loy, I actually thought that Loy was getting his info directly from Crawford though? Either way, having Cooks on your side would be amazing. He is turning into one of the best recruiters in the nation!

On Loy it was more Crawford than anybody else.

I thought that was the case, but it raises a question for me. Coaches are not supposed to discuss recruits until they are signed correct? Is that something that would be a violation if discussing publicly with a analyst, or if off the record is not problematic? I always thought that sources in the case of recruiting were people that coaches confided in and then they give the scoop to the reporters. I just wonder because there is probably not a better source than a coach that is pitching these kids.
