Landing this kid would be HUGE for our offense and for the future health of recruiting to bring in yet another player with credibility from TX. Not sure I understand, even with his lack of size, how this kid isn't rated higher by now..he literally makes every other player on the field look like they are running in sand in every highlight clip.

I agree, he is that spark plug that Riddick was but with absolute jets! Really, really want!

Five still in the running for Ryan Newsome

Success in college in important to him but he is also looking for a system and coaches that can help him get to the NFL.

He seems like a bright kid who is really thoughtful about his recruitment. By way of example, this sounds a lot different than the normal quote a kid gives:

Coach Yarbs (Eric Yarber) is just like Coach Norvell at OU, as he is a very tenured coach in the NFL and it goes back to when he was playing for the San Diego Chargers and playing for Coach Mora. They have a great relationship with each other at UCLA and he is a great guy, and a devout Christian and it is always great when your coach shares the same beliefs that you do and we can all be on one core spiritually.

As you might expect, he is a priority for everyone and staff/head coaches are coming at him hard. He has a good relationship with all the staffs that are on him.

As for ND, he mentions that he is friends with Guyton and Fertitta. Kelly himself made the spring phone call that he was allowed and although Newsome missed the call, Kelly left a long voicemail going over the 40 year decision bit. Newsome seemed to really like that idea.

He is really excited to visit.

We haven't historically done well with those who choose at the All-American games. I know there have been a few exceptions but geez.

Disagree. Feel we do better at the army all american game than the Under Armour game.

Said he was in the top scores for SPARQ till he put up only a 4.5 in the 40. Pulled his hammy at the 30 yard line...

Funny hearing him talk about the commits recruiting him. Said he's hearing from Hoge, Sanders, Tillery, Barnett before he decommitted, and Adams (said something to the effect of "that RB that just committed is on me. I don't even know that dude haha"). That's on too of hearing from Cooks and Kelly.

Still set for his OV for the UM game.

One I wish my Tide would have gotten on earlier. I think he is a little underrated and will be a big time player in college. If he was 6'1" he would be ranked much higher IMO.

Wonder what happened here? Maybe we are only taking one more WR and feel good about St. Brown?

Fake tweet alert? Didn't Kelly research his twitter and tell him he was unlike any other recruit he has seen because it was squeaky clean?

We are out

He called Loy before the tweet and said ND is eliminated because "the weather isn't the best and they already have a guy committed in a similar role that he would play."

Perhaps he saw Sanders go all BOSS out in Beaverton and knew he'd be too hard to supplant.

Damn, I said while Sanders was balling out that it was definitely making Ryan less of a want but I didn't expect this. In all honesty I would never want a kid that's afraid of competition.
