When Tom asks if he is solid to ND, C.J. replies "Oh yes. 110%. When I went up to Notre Dame I felt like that was the place for me and that's not changing."

We will still get the weekly poster coming in and asking.... "So how committed is this kid? I am worried, and he would be a major loss."

Get over it. This has nothing to with Tillery.

Seriously...nobody does that unless a recruit openly talks about visiting other schools or actually visits another school (like Tillery). If the commit does that, well, then posters should worry about the solidity of his commitment. Lest we forget guys like Barnett, Greenberry, Darby, Little, Hunter, Trattou, etc etc etc.

You hear nothing about guys like Ruhland, Hoge, Coleman, McKinney, Yoooooooon, etc. Why? Because they don't talk about other schools and making visits.

I'm more worried about him staying committed to ND at this point, but yes.

As you can see, it has already happened in this thread within the last 36 hours and literally nothing about his recruitment has given us any reason to doubt him.

Man... there is absolutely nothing wrong with people saying they are "more worried." There is no doubt that when someone blows up it makes them harder to hold onto. When he committed to ND, he did not have actionable offers from many other places he was interested in. We see every years with almost a half dozen Notre Dame prospects that when late offers pop up it can be game changing.

I do not think it's probable CJ will flip. I really don't. But we've all seen guys like Anzalone say they're 100% committed and shutting down recruiting completely and not talking to any other schools... and then they flip. So I'm pretty sick and tired of people looking at public comments and trying to parse a positive or negative. The truth is we don't personally know any of these kids and therefor cannot judge what they might be thinking below the surface or how upfront they might be acting.

With CJ, the only schools I'd worry about at all would be OSU (legacy), UCLA, and USC. He's not from Cali and has only been out there a matter of months really, but the acting angle is always interesting. I know he was interested in OSU but he was further down their board. Michigan and Tennessee might also be darkhorses if they threw their hat in the ring.

Again, I don't think there is any cause for alarm, but I also thinks its bullshit to suggest there's something wrong with discussing a prospects recruitment/options.

Don't think that's a good analogy. I remember Anzalone showing up at Florida several times after he committed to ND and before he flipped.

The point isn't to compare CJ to anyone. The point is to show you can't take anything anyone says at face value.

On November 5th, Anzalone released a statement saying he was not taking any more visits, was not talking to any other schools, and was completely shutting down recruiting and 100% Irish. He made no visits anywhere or did anything from that point forward except saying he was all-in... until January 10th where he decommitted and showed up at Florida the next day as an EE.

Until January 10th, any of us following public comments would've had no indication whatsoever that a flip was possible much less imminent. Heck, all of his buddies in the IrishMob13 were also equally blindsided... and they actually knew him and some had recently played with him in the All-American game.

The point is simply to show a crystal clear example of how public comments should be considered fundamentally without value.

This is a terrible terrible comparison considering context.

Brain Kelly nearly became Philadelphia's HC.

Had Kelly not have interviewed for the position, Anzalone would have been Irish.

I'd like to add, that if Brian Kelly interviews for a HC position in the NFL again, we will lose more top-tier recruits.

Just listened to an interview with him and Crawford together and they seem to really be hitting it off which is cool. They also said all of the commits are trying to go together on their official, most likely Michigan game.

That simply isn't at all true. Anzalone was on his way to move into FLA and was lucky enough to be able to use the interview as an excuse.

If we get desperate, I think he'd be a really good RB prospect too.

You have no source whatsoever on that statement.

He's correct. Florida coaches knew for weeks he was coming. This was per sources on ISD (and elsewhere... I think a Florida board) when talking about the situation months after the fact.

When it happened I thought exactly how you did, that it was 100% due the Kelly flirtation. But in actuality that had nothing to do with it... per a helpful nudge from his Florida alum father and some other factors he had his decision made to go to Florida before the UA All-American game. I guess some of his buddies headed to Florida knew about it then and even before that despite none of the IrishMob knowing a thing. I think he was leaning towards just showing up at Florida and not telling anyone anything on ND's side but then Kelly went through the whole Eagles thing and it gave him convenient cover to "decommit" the day before showing up in Gainseville.

Well I owe him an apology if that's true.

I really don't think Sanders is a correlation to Anzalone at all although.

Is there a source related to him yet?

You're right, Sanders is NOTHING like Anzalone. I don't mean to liken their recruitments at all... but I know that's implicitly what I did by bringing Alex into this discussion.

In reality, I just think Alex is one of greatest examples of someone being totally full of shit that we've ever seen and accordingly I wanted to highlight him as a prime example of not being able to trust what someone says about their level of commitment -- good or bad.

Great, there's even less tickets now.

That part I agree with.

Anzalone is a douche bag. CJ is the man, his interview with Shaun Crawford made them seem like absolute locks for ND.

We definitely have a dandy right here in the class.

He might be a defining recruit.
