I really like this kid!!! He attacks the line but has fluid enough hips to drop back in coverage . I would love to see him get to about 240 for his senior year and see how he runs with the extra 15 pounds on him. Have we offered yet?

I'm not sure IE could handle the stress of having a Columbus kid who would jump to OSU if Urban offered later in the cycle.

Assuming you meant Nick Conner, staff has asked and invited him to II camp to get a good, long look at everything, with the possibility of an offer there accordingly.

What's important at MLB, almost unlike any other position save for QB obviously, is assessing and understanding a prospect's football IQ, instincts and smarts, and leadership and competitiveness beyond what's demonstrated on the field simply through his play. The intangibles as it were. Like the QB leader and command central of the offense, the Mike is to the defense, especially in a pro-style system with varied schemes that BVG is implementing. Such evaluation and assessment is best done in a working, engaging, teaching/learning environment such as camp. That's the intent here.

Dublin kids are usually wide open to going anywhere but osu. There was Mike Adams and Jake Stoneburner that picked osu a few years ago from Dublin Coffman, but most of the D1 Dublin kids go elsewhere. Chris Rock, a teammate of Brad Carrico, went to Michigan before transferring to osu. But if ND offered, osu wouldnt be a school they would have to worry about. ND is doing their due diligence on background checks for this kid I believe. Kids a player.

So a poster at II, said Mike Frank had some good things to say about Nick. Anybody with ISD able to share what he said?

Worked out at OSU camp for Meyer and Fickell today. Awaiting word on if he will be offered or not. Buckeye fans really want him to be offered.

Honestly I can see why. I really wonder where we will stand with him after this weekend?

Word on the OSU 247 board is that he was in fact offered by Ohio State.

Would make him 2/2 on the camp circuit now.

Damn I wanted this kid bad at MLB. At least he isn't going to MSU to be a thorn in our sides

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Dublin (Ohio) Scioto linebacker Nick Conner finally received his Ohio State offer he had been looking for and it did not take long for Conner to jump on it and join the Ohio State recruiting class.

"It felt right," Conner told BuckeyeGrove.com. "I wanted to become a Buckeye since I was young. It was always a dream but I'm willing to work for a spot on the field."

The 6-foot-2, 223-pound linebacker is a 4-star was recently named the linebacker MVP at the Rivals100 Five Star Challenge and is rated as the No. 218 player in the nation regardless of position.

Conner held offers from Michigan State, Maryland, Boston College, Oregon, Virginia Tech and WVU just to name a few schools but many believe that the decision really was between Ohio State and Michigan State.

The Buckeyes had Conner come to campus on Tuesday to work out in front of the Ohio State coaches and apparently Urban Meyer, Chris Ash and Luke Fickell liked what they saw as they extended the offer after seeing Conner in action..

Ohio State is still looking at taking two more linebackers in the class and it would appear that the Buckeyes are in front for Jerome Baker and Justin Hilliard and if the Bucks close on both of them would have a talented core of Ohio linebackers with all three coming from within the state.

Conner projects as a middle linebacker despite some trying to say that he could grow into a defensive end and be a bit of a 'tweener. Conner is 100-percent a linebacker and should be in the mix at the 'Mike'.

Good player. Typical Michigan St type kid. Im am def curious to see how he fits in the osu scheme. Urbans defenses havent typically catered to a LB like Conner and Im not sure Conner fits what osu does.

I dont think he fits what ND wants to do, and that is partially the factor he was never offered. Conner 20 years ago would have probably been a really highly ranked kid with his ability vs the run.
