TTown, when did UA offer Waller? Because every write up I saw said they haven't offered but 247 is showing him as offered. Any insight?

Thanks for posting, I could've sworn I read on BamaOnline just a week or so ago that he didn't have an offer yet. Maybe its an actionable offer on getting to campus and working out for Saban which he'll be doing today.
Yeah I can't imagine it was commitable until today or tomorrow. I post on TideFans sometimes and they seem to want him as a contingency after missing out on Dormady. They like Bateman or Cornell as the future, which makes more sense.
Does Bama anticipate ANY change in offensive philosophy with Kiffin coming to town? Because otherwise, Waller just doesn't make sense for them.
TTown would be better in this regard. Kiffin is a pro style guy so he won't be switching it up that much, IMO. However, I did read some stuff from when he was hired that Saban just wanted something different than what they previously had. I just don't see that as switching to a spread that Kiffin has never ran before.
So you're thinking the most likely scenario here is that UA thinks they could land Waller if they wanted to at this point?

I don't think we will see much of a change with Kiffin's offense at Bama. Saban has said in past interviews that he wants to see the offense "evolve" more. I took that as nothing more than seeing Kiffin incorporate more of his pro style than what Nuss had.
Waller would make a great scout team QB however. Maybe that is where Nick is going with all this anyway. I do think they go all in on Eason next year so where Waller fits in is a little puzzling to me.

If Waller goes to UA and becomes a great scout team QB over coming to ND and being a potential starter after Malik, I will throw up.

Of course, you could say the same about us (re: Eason/other top-flight QBs next year. Waller's a better fit for our system than Bama's). But I'd think he'd have a better chance of starting here than at Bama or OSU.
Yeah I agree... I think Waller fits Kelly's offense better. And I think he ends up Irish in the end. tOSU has their potential future QB already committed. NW is probably not a threat and Bama's offense doesn't fit him. But who knows what goes through these young men's mind when they choose.

Alabama, Northwestern and Ohio State are the other three contenders here and Waller says he will announce a commitment on July 1 at The Opening. Truth be told, unless the Tide or Buckeyes make a big push, this one could very well come down to the Irish and Wildcats.
Now, Northwestern is a big player here (the Cats have been on him for a long time) and Waller would be an unreal pull for Pat Fitzgerald and staff. He’s a big-time fit in their offensive system and adding that type of talent at quarterback to go along with the talent the Wildcats pulled in last recruiting cycle would set the program up nicely to contend even moreso than they likely already will in the Big Ten West in the coming years.
But reading the tea leaves, you have to like Notre Dame’s chances here at the end of the day.
Barnett was an excellent scheme fit for the Irish- there is no question. It was not a surprise that head coach Brian Kelly hand-picked the four-star talent and zeroed in on him as “the guy” in this class. Barnett is mobile enough to throw on the run and avoid pressure in the pocket. He’s got an excellent arm and can make all of the throws. He’s also an impressive player at the high school level- not just an upside guy- and has the leadership intangibles you want in a signal caller at an elite program.
That being said, Waller’s skill set is extremely intriguing in terms of fit at Notre Dame. He’s a long-strider that can break away from a defense in the running game, has an accurate arm (throws with great velocity) and like Barnett, he can make every throw. There really isn’t that much difference between the two when you look at the skill set and rankings (Barnett is the No. 3 dual-threat quarterback in the class with a 247Sports Composite rating of 0.9671, Waller No. 4 with 0.9623), Some things Waller can do a little better, some things Barnett can do a little better. When I’ve seen them both in person, they were very, very similar in a camp setting.
We say often that ranking elite recruits is akin to splitting hairs. This is one of the best examples I can show you. Waller has in a lot of ways been a victim of too much quarterback talent in California this cycle. He’s the forgotten man on a lot of offer boards, which is more unique to this cycle than a testament to his talent/upside.
If you think about it big-picture wise with Notre Dame specifically, adding Waller in this class on top of high-upside quarterback DeShone Kizer in the 2013 class, that would give Notre Dame two quarterbacks with pro size and high ceilings in back-to-back classes. It would be as good of a two-year run at quarterback as any program in the country.
I’m high enough on both to say that either one could potentially lead the Irish to the college football playoffs and possibly win a national championship.
So sometimes, things just work out. If Notre Dame indeed does land Waller as expected, I think in the coming years, fans of the Irish and college football in general will see that.

Wiltfong's CB is now foggy
What was it before?
I believe he had flipped to ND with the offer like most of 247.
Yep.
Wiltfong and Barton Simmons. About the only two guys I care about seeing their CBs.
In playing the CB game, what is the benefit of having it foggy?
Let's say he had it to ND for a month, Waller was about to commit to Bama, so he quickly changed it to Bama and logged a day of 'accuracy'.
Vs.
Having it foggy for a month, then a day before he commits to Bama, he switches it to log a day of accuracy.
Wouldn't he get the same amount of points for that day of being correct? If so, it makes no sense to ever have it foggy. Maybe he just does it to not mislead the fans?
