Looks like they didn't even read your comment and that your not a subscriber. They just saw the word "Hopkins" and hit the "AutoReply" button. Makes me confident that they are reading all of the messages.

Can't really blame them. They're processing dozens to hundreds of cancellations right now.

I just replied, "Thanks for addressing this" and left it at that. I thought we just needed as many people as possible voicing their displeasure at this complete lack of ethics. Recruits come and go all the time. I don't care that Barnett changed his mind. It happens. As many people have noted it's Hopkins' behavior that's that real issue.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention!!!

The sophomoric responses by Hopkins yesterday were certainly out of line, but I think any efforts he obviously had in steering Barnett toward Oregon are the bigger issue here. As ND has said numerous times around signing day "Leave the recruiting to the coaches."

TJ in a pretty calm demeanor has been laying some gems at II.

I'll let my previous statement stand as it is, Ringo, if you don't mind. Nothing more needs to be said on this, although much more needs to be done in such matters by all involved. Recruiting is enough of a cesspool already, but it's becoming dangerously close to the scumbag business that now is college basketball recruiting, especially when adjunct parties interject and involve themselves in the process. And there is no question here.

I'll otherwise agree with and second BigNDfan's summary post above.

And I'll once again endorse the work and comportment of your II staff here. Pete had it exactly right in his reaction, and unlike that other site, I'd bet real action would be taken in matters that clearly cross lines and violate norms. There's good reason that Pete and Tim (from a lead standpoint) have earned trust and respect around the Gug and ND generally. You can live with that.

CC: Rocket89

I wanted to copy this and post again because its very important (truly the real issue) and its what Lax and I have been trying to say yesterday and today. I don't think we can lay it out even more then we have.

The Battle of 247 was the only way for people such as ourselves to bring attention to the whole issue. And with the actions of Hopkins, it made the movement possible as we could actually provide evidence of the crap that goes on over at 247.

The people have spoken.

And the answer came up wanting. In my opinion, the answer wasn't sufficient.

Mr. Shannon Terry,

I have maintained a subscription for your services previously, and while I am not a current subscriber, I was considering renewing your services. However the conduct of your employees, namely Justin Hopkins and JC Shurburtt; in conduct and bias against The University of Notre Dame will preclude me from even being able to consider your services. Conscious knowledge of their conduct and their continued employment forces me to advocate for competing paid services and inform others of the dangerous trends being exhibited by your company.
I certainly hope this resonates with you personally and professionally as ultimately their conduct is a reflection on you and your company.

Very Respectfully,

My Name / Job Title / etc.

Sent to Shannon Terry, owner and CEO of 247. I CC'd Shurburtt and Hopkins.

College football is becoming such a shady business that the purists are going to start moving away to a simpler, more wholesome game, like the NFL.

Its funny to read everything (& from who) that's in here, then see 4 new QB threads made that have 247 ratings, crystal ball predictions, and tweets posted in them. True movement.

Who's gonna star as IrishLax in the Hollywood movie? What's the movie name?

See Jason Statham in "Mass Cancellation".

Sending to the CEO is the best thing to do. I don't have a subscription, but I will be sending him an email when I get a few minutes. I would suggest everyone subscriber or not do this. He knows this will be seen across all Irish forums, will get a better impact of the negativity Hopkins has generated and will take steps to correct it.

Well there was this, posted 6 days ago:A Healthy Notre Dame | Irish Turning Point

Here is the first sentence:
For seemingly the first time in the Brian Kelly era, there haven’t been headlines during the off-season that send Irish fans running for the nearest bottle of whisky.

You know what, I think you're right! I can't rep you, too much given out in 24 hours, so I've sent a gift instead. I spent some time trying to figure out where I read that on the board, and I couldn't seem to find it. It must have been that article from TP!

TP, you jinxed us, man!

Send this to the CEO & COO.

Gentlemen,
I'm not a subscriber to 247 or any other service. Why? Because of the lack of journalistic integrity and the indifference to the basic fundamentals of journalism exhibited by people like Justin Hopkins. I have been a Notre Dame fan since the early sixties and at my age my emotions and life aren't tied to the commitment or de-commitment of a 17 or 18 year old kid. I raised five kids so I know well that nothing is certain with teenagers. However, the manner in which Mr. Hopkins involved himself with the recruitment of Blake Barnett was to say the very least was questionable. Add to that his antics in involving himself in Twitters arguments and flaunting with Irish fans lends his emotional level to be that of a teenager like Blake Barnett.

I know there are many Irish fans cancelling or not renewing their subscriptions to 247. I would encourage you to look at how 247 conducts its business before you lose additional subscribers and the integrity of 247 takes another hit.

Regards,
Jim Slaymon

Shouldn't we start a similar thread and cancellation thingy concerning Alex Flanagan??!?

Yup, I had Vanderdoesn't in my targeted recruits one year.

The funny part is, I tried to force him to sign with the Irish. I set his stats as a typical DT/NT, set his kicking ability to 0 and made him a Punter. The idea was to recruit him hard while no one else does, then retrain him as the desired profession.

He ended up signing with some other school, but it wasn't UCLA. I was pissed.

LOL... Urban like shady recruiting right there....

This is hilarious :D

Boycott NBC until they decide to put Alex back on the sidelines? I thought about that, but we don't know the circumstances why she's moving within the company. It could be a step up or promotion. Unlikely, but perhaps they think someone else is better suited for the job. Maybe she just wants Saturdays off to spend with the family? In any case, I'll miss seeing that gorgeous smile and engaging personality, but I wish her well ultimately.

As far as the 2nd part....I wish I made that up, but it's unfortunately true  I will say that I'm a dirty player sometimes and I've used this tactic before to try and maintain a realistic roster. It has backfired other times unfortunately, and wish athletes that did end up playing for ND. Vanderdoes just happened to be a coincidence.

Yeah, Someone said it had to do with injuries of wearing high heels on AstroTurf. 0.0
Anyways, I hope whoever replaces her has half her sincerity and coolness. She was the perfect fit. Flanagan. Dang...

lol! It was just funny is all. Specially followed by the Urban Meyer remark.

hasnt even made it out of this thread to the rest of this board.

This "movement" had a more quick and direct impact than anyone really thought was possible. The entire point was to send a message, nothing more. It's not about permanently staying away from 247, it's not about trying to deal a crippling blow to a company as big as 247... none of that is practical. It was simply about showing them that we were not going to quietly tolerate this bullshit from Hopkins.

Within 15 minutes of posting this, Keith Arnold was tweeting it. I don't know what happens if Keith doesn't do that... but from there it went gangbusters. Between tweets and retweets this reached tens of thousands. It is 100% on other boards.

By morning, Hopkins went from an arrogant, gloating little fuckface to getting chewed out by his superiors as they received "hundreds" (direct quote) of cancellation requests. He was publicly reprimanded in a statement by his superiors, and forced to issue a cookie cutter public apology with his tail between his legs. I'm sorry but that all so far exceeds the expectations of starting this "movement" I don't know what else you want. Him fired? Suspended? None of that was going to happen. But he's in hot water, pissed off a lot of his peers, been put on notice by his superiors, and lost mountains of credibility.

So yeah... if you don't appreciate the impact, then you're not paying attention.
