Visiting Notre Dame either tonight or tomorrow, he's in Columbus today for the NFTC.

OSU is telling him he's the next Percy Harvin and Clemson telling him he's the next Sammy Watkins.

Shocker.

4.34 sounds nice, but I think his balance and the strength he runs with is what impresses me.

He told Loy recently that ND is a visit he has to take before deciding.

No, but they're weren't The Rocket either.

Maybe not, but Rocket was no Tate or Floyd either.

Tate had more catches, just 66 fewer yards and three times as many touchdowns in his senior season than Rocket did in his entire career at ND. Over his whole three years
Tate had 86 more catches, 1142 more yards and 21 more TD receptions than Rocket.

And while Floyd played an additional year more than Rocket and Tate, he finished his ND career as its all time leading receiver with 271 catches (200 more than Rocket), 3686 yards (2121 more than Rocket) and 37 TDs ((32 more).

Rocket got a lot more opportunities as a rusher, piling up 1015 yards on his 131 rushes for a 7.75 yard average, but only managed 4 TDs on the ground -- one more than Floyd on only 4 career carries and 1 more than Tate on his 31 career carries.

Where Rocket made his mark was in the return game, where he scored 5 TDs on kicks and another on punts -- and all of them were as spectacular as they were well timed for dramatic effect.

In the big picture, though, and although Rocket is by far my favorite player in ND's long history, I would not say that Rocket was better than Floyd or Tate. All three were different players, and Floyd and Tate were probably more productive than Rocket ever was. I would love for this Hines kid to come in a similarly leave his mark on the Irish.

Do you know who the Rocket shared time rushing with?

Rocket also didn't play in a passing offense to his defense however he made the most of his touches

Yeah Rocket played in a totally different era/system and was even in the backfield at times... he was a total game changing type of player... I'll just leave it at that.

I won't beat this to death, because I agree that Tate and Floyd were great players and had better receiving stats, but their impact was pretty much in receiving.

Rocket was so fast, so athletic and so versatile that he played receiver, RB and returner. My point is Holtz looked at every opportunity to get him as many touches as possible. IMO, his impact on a game was greater than Tate's or Floyd's.

The Rocket was almost like an earlier-day John Goodman.

So once again he's saying that he wants to visit ND before deciding. Trying to plan an OV for Louisville or Northwestern weekends. Seems like a long shot at best right now but he's an explosive player and worth a shot.
