Knowing ND well and the osu area well.

I definitely agree with GKIrish and JimmyMac. I dont think that ND is as bad people make it sound and the kids enjoy it once they are there. Is South Bend comparable to Columbus with night life? No. Columbus has about 700k more people in it and Ohio St is top 5 school in enrollment. So there is going to be a ton more things to do at night at osu. I mean osu enrollment is 57% would make up 57% of the population in South Bend.

The girls at ohio st and columbus are great. If you are choosing a school on girls alone, osu would beat ND.
ND doesnt typically recruit the kids that have girls, party life as a deciding factor in their decision.

But to say Columbus isnt on par with South Bend is ridiculous. I am not familiar with Ann Arbor other than like JimmyMac said...the frat life is the cream of the crop.

I wouldnt put any of the 3 cities in this debate in the Elite of the Elite for night life but Id imagine if you polled former players, there wouldnt be any complaints from any of the schools. They are 3 midwest towns with midwest lifestyles. None of them are Tempe, LA, Austin, Athens, or Tallahassee. Its just a different way of how the population lives. If ND had an enrollment of 57,000 students, South Bend would be a completely different city.

Just saying, but if Hilliard does go to OSU the Barajas recruitment was absurdly clutch.

I don't think that's still the case, is it? I saw somewhere that he's going to be at OSU again next weekend, too.

I also wouldnt say that this weekend classifies as a "visit". I would imagine there was some contact with OSU coaches, but he was only up in Columbus to get to The Opening.

If anyone's feeling bummed out about losing ground on Hilliard, watch the Kolin Hill highlights below.

Kind of funny, but I am sure you are speaking of Athens, GA and the bulldogs; but I have been to AA, SB, and Citybus often over the years, and I think Athens, Ohio has all three beat. Go, Bobcats!

JimmyMac ND does well for itself as far as partying Im not disagreeing, but again its not on Ann Arbor (which is a great campus) and Columbus ( that goes nuts)

Well, we're talking about campus here. That is a difficult situation, since Michigan and OSU have much larger student base, and generally the cities might as well be part of the campus, however, if he's basing his decision on which school has the largest and wildest parties, then I think his priorities are a little messed up. That being said, I think that's taking it out of context. I do think Hilliard will choose ND, as I believe he enjoyed his ND visits more so than the OSU one's. He's a level-headed kid, goes to a catholic school with ND ties, and takes education into account.

I was referring more to the city in general, not it's party scene. Columbus and Ann Arbor definitely have SB beat in that regard, but that shouldn't be a reason to select a school. That is really one of the last things I'd pick, even if I was a regular student. You're there to learn, serve, play and enjoy your stay.

17 year olds, especially ones who are 95% sure they're going to the NFL, don't always think like that.

Deciding late June or July

Talked about playing with Cornell and Harris (interview was on Bucknuts)

If he doesn't stay with McMillan his next OSU visit it will be when our old friend and his friend Sam Hubbard does :/

Basically using my judgment. What I hear about his visits, not facts, just opinions. It just seems like ND made a bigger impact on his visits there than OSU had. But OSU is the most recent visit, so obviously they're the "shiny new toy".

When he last visited ND for the spring game, he didn't even stay past half time. He can't seem to get enough of OSU.

I don't think you can honestly say the ND visits have had a bigger impact.

Of course not, but I think Hilliard is more level headed than most other 17 year old athlete recruits.

Definitely a huge safety net, but I'd prefer having both. Just don't know what went wrong that is causing ND to slip. He was completely blown away on his visits, and didn't have a good relationship with the OSU coaching staff, so what happened? I just hate that ND has to work way harder to get these kids, but Urban Liar can just waltz in on the drop of a hat, and suddenly "I DON'T WANNA PLAY SCHOOL"! Recruiting is bullshit.

I think almost every kid ND gets on campus is some level if blown away. Does that mean they want to go to class, live in dorms, etc. is another story.

Hilliard when asked to compare ND & OSU:
“Notre Dame is more of a structured place where I’m coming from, Catholic, I wouldn’t say close-nit but a school like (Ohio State) is really exciting. There is a lot of excitement on campus, which I really like. The fans are crazy, Coach (Urban) Meyer really comes with the excitement every day in practice.

“It’s two different type of schools. You have to look at them totally separately.

“Some schools have their strengths and weaknesses and both schools have their ups and downs.”

If Hilliard deems NDs best attribute to be structure, vs the excitement of OSU, we're not in good shape.

Hilliard when asked to compare ND & OSU:

Gotta hope that the parents are Heavily involved and that we blow away his mom
On his next visit bc it looks like he is digging the "excitement" style campus rather ND

Agreed. Needs to be at Irish Invasion with his buddy Jashon if ND has much of a shot with a late June/early July decision. Realistically the only real shot to have any excitement on campus between now and then.

Seems like we've lost a ton of momentum with Hilliard and Cornell. I think most of us thought there was a better chance we'd land both than neither but it's looking like the latter is more likely now.

I think Jashon today said that he's going to PSU instead of the II.
