He definitely plans on going back to Notre Dame; he can see himself going to school there. He enjoyed the spring game, the wide receivers really impressed him. He's strongly considering Notre Dame because of the tradition and the degree.

Anna says that he is strongly considering Iowa as well because that's where his dad played. I thought his dad played at Missouri, which is why he has strong family ties to Missouri. It has confused the shit out of me.

Anselm Aniagboso Ofodile, Jr. (born October 9, 1973) is a former American football tight end in the National Football League for the Baltimore Ravens, originally drafted by the Buffalo Bills. He played college football at University of Missouri. He is the head coach of Rock Bridge High School in Columbia, Missouri.

I am assuming this is his dad.

If there is an SEC school from which one can pull a hometown kid whose dad is a high school football coach, it is probably Mizzou. Their history of keeping the best players from Missouri is not good.
Still, this one might be tough. But it sounds like we're in good position to compete, anyway. Hope he makes a return trip.

ize-Strength-Speed
Possesses some early stage bulk and has the frame to really develop into an imposing presence. Long and lanky. Has terrific height, a wide wingspan and is high cut. He is a long-striding galloper of an athlete with some explosive traits and competitive speed given his measurables. Considering his size this prospect can really go. Has explosive 0 to 60 traits. He is not a possession player.
Separation Skills
Amongst the big receivers in this class, he may be the best route runner of them all. He has a great feel for how to set up defenders. Explodes off the line, has a powerful stride and is extremely decisive in his movements. Considering his size, he is very precise with his feet and spacing. Attacks alignment, consistently eats up cushion, knows how to avoid press and most importantly get on top of the defender once he does. Will lean and uses leverage to keep DBs guessing on his breakpoint. Does not have to gear down much into the break. Can be very sudden as a route runner and is very precise on speed cuts. Comes back to the football and does not drift. Has long arms, knows how to use his frame and consistently shields defenders from the ball.
Ball Skills
Very good with balls thrown above his head and showing focus in contested matchups or in the red area. Consistently catches the ball clean and away from his frame. Will show the occasional acrobatic grab. Very strong. Has big, strong hands and is able to adjust and elevate to haul in poorly thrown balls. Plays a position like a power forward. Shows sideline awareness and body control when elevated and competing in a crowd. Takes pride in consistently making their routine catch and also making the difficult catch look routine.
Big Play Ability
Shows very good short-area quickness to get into open space and get over the top. He is a guy who once is in the open field with a straight line he possesses the ability to build speed and pull away from people. Shows acceleration properties that you don't often see and bigger wide receivers. His combination of size, speed and ability to get away from press coverage makes him a consistent vertical threat. Can play on the inside and outside. Makes a lot of plays from the slot position in a crowd. Will extend in traffic and know he's going to get hit. He's got great toughness. Has a very sound football player that is reliable and at the same time produces a lot of big plays downfield. Is much better after the catch than you might think. Is quick to accelerate, can make the first defender miss and stretch down the sideline.
Bottom Line
Ofodile is one of the most well-rounded, polished and productive players in this class. He does all the little things really well. Pays close attention to the little details of the position. His blend of size, speed and strength are highly coveted. He's one of the most college ready receivers we've seen in this class. There a lot of players comparable to him talent wise, but few play the game with the precision that he does. Excellent prospect that we would expect to play early.
Junior Eval
STRENGTHS: Possesses a nice blend of height, size and speed for a wide receiver. Shows good quickness for a long strider with the ability to change directions and move laterally to avoid. ... AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: May need to improve overall strength to play more consistently when running through contact. ... BOTTOM LINE: Ofodile is a big target with good movement skills. Shows potential and may heat up on the recruiting trail.

Rob Cassidy and Jason Howell of rivals put up an update called Around the Midlands. In the update they talked about it being a Mizz/Oklahoma battle. However, ND can't be ruled out. They think him moving up his timeline after his OU visit was a tell that they have made a strong impression.

Deciding in June. He was planning on taking a visit to Ohio State, he also planned on taking return visits to Iowa and ND. Anna thinks he picks Mizzou

I've got a feeling in my gut he surprises everyone and pick ND

I like it. I'm not going that far, but I'm cautiously optimistic about this one. I'm definitely not losing hope, and we may end up coming in 2nd or 3rd, but I don't think Mizzou gets his commitment.

Has anyone heard anything positive for ND on this kid? Or is it just hope for a miracle at this point?

He was supposed to come back to ND before making a decision. If he does that I think we have a chance. If not, its all Mizzou. With DGB leaving they have a good sell here. #1 WR.

I think he got squeezed by the Sanders commit.

not in the least! that would be like a DE committing and then saying it squeezed a DT out...Ofodile is an outside wr, Sanders is the coveted slot/slasher/pr man they tried w/ at the end of last cycle and have been targeting this cycle...those 2 weren't in play for the same position...it effects possibly newsome but that dude is straight top talent and he may be a take no matter what...now ofodile and brown would be the people vying for the spot and kind of boykin as well but as mentioned before, the staff views him more of an athlete so TE recruiting would effect that

Told Loy that he can't wait to get back to ND in June. We're in his top group. Nothing set so we'll have to see if this happens prior to a commitment.
