Sooooo, hold off on the pitchforks??

If that ends up being true… I wonder if Sharpton will still plan on going after him.

Well there is still plenty of evidence that he is a racist piece of shit so I think you still grab your pitchfork and torches if you want.

If you haven't read the article the Huntr linked I suggest it. Or just look at his Wiki page.

I'm not sure the NBA should even get involved here. This was a private conversation he had with his gf, not something he said in a public interview or as a rep of his team or league. Granted, he certainly appears to be racist based on past actions and we can all find that distasteful, but do we really want the thought police scrutinizing even our private conversations?

I get what you are saying, but I think you can dislike extortion and also bring out the pitchforks simultaneously with this situation.

Agreed. People who find his views disgusting should address that with their feet and wallets. Don't buy tickets to his team's games. Don't buy his team's merchandise. Don't rent homes or apartments he owns. Let him learn that he can hold any view he chooses, but there's a price for it.

I'm not even sure why this is news...........

So the guy doesn't want his girlfriend (who is a minority) to advertise that she hangs out with minorities? The guy's obviously a retard! But, let's not forget that he is also making quite a few minorities multi-millionaires. Being a retard is not against the law. I don't know what people expect anyone to do?

You serious? He isn't making anyone a millionaire, basketball is.

Not trying to defend him at all, but why would an extreme racist allow a black person to be the head coach of his team? There are plenty of qualified white coaches out there--I just find that aspect of this situation confusing...

The same reason that black people were used as overseers post Civil War. The crops need tending. This guy is a terrible human being.

If you don't understand why this is news you're just being ignorant. Being an NBA owner comes with a certain amount of responsibility. Him being heard saying he doesn't want black people at the games is PR nightmare for the league. The fact that he pays players millions doesn't mean anything and doesn't give you a pass to be a racist idiot. He should be suspended at the very least.

The irony of you using a pretty derogatory term for mentally handicapped people as you rail on someone for their hypocrisy.

Sterling sounds like an interesting creature from his most recent racist comments to: just a reminder that clippers owner donald sterling has the funniest deposition in the history of law: | TrendyPie.Com

One of the most outragous things I have read lately

"Sir, The question was, is this your handwriting" haha

oh my god, i'm dying… "on the way to Mr Koon's house"...

Yeah I'm with you on this one. He might be a dick, but is that violating a rule? And how exactly can you punish someone for a private conversation? You can damage his reputation but that's pretty much it.

The legal experts can chime in here, but doesn't It require both parties agreeing for a conversation to be recorded?

The article explains that, but yes, California law says it is illegal to record private conversations without one's consent.

That's why something may never come of this. Before the NBA does anything, they have to give Sterling his process. They have to make sure the tape is legit. And to do that, they are going to want the original. TMZ may not be willing to hand it over (assuming they have the original), b/c the person that gave it to them (likely his g/f) probably had an agreement stating TMZ could not hand it over to anyone.

As a guy who considers himself a conservative, piss off with this trash. Not everything is about your political hang ups.

Puh lease. If Sterling ever contributed a cent to a Republican, the media would be trumpeting it all over: "Clippers' owner and Republican contributor, Donald Sterling, caught in racist rant. Do Republicans have a race problem?"

But a Democrat? Nary a peep about his political contributions or affiliation.

Just like hammer told you, and he is a conservative himself, give it a rest. Nobody wants to hear you turn every damn thread into a political debate.

So you're aware enough to realize that indicting an entire group based on the actions of an individual is idiotic, but you decide to do it anyway because some other trolls do it and you want things to be "fair". AND as if that wasn't grade-school mentality enough, instead of posting it somewhere the aforementioned trolls would read it like on an MSNBC board, you decide to post it on a thread where there has been no mention of politics at all.

Be honest, are you five years old?

He may not be a progressive, but, unsurprisingly, Mr. Sterling is a democrat.

This is an egregious (at best) comment. (Republican) Lincoln may have "won the war and freed the slaves" but racism and prejudice know no political bounds.

Then research "Dixiecrats," Lester Maddox and George Wallace. The mythic Solid (Democratic) South was the result of Lincoln, the initial Republican presidential candidate, who was holding the presidency when the question and conundrum of slavery reached a head. Until LBJ smeared the blurred line the only way for a politician in the South to win was to run as a Democrat. Real or simply Pragmatic was of little concern.

The late sixties and early seventies were a dividing line. And a blurring line in political terms.

Like it or not, it is an ugly hypocrisy that pervades much of the national discussion on race. The hypocrisy leads to unreasoned and impractical national "discussions" on race, at a detriment to us all. This hypocrisy only persists because too few confront it.

But, by all means, get off on your nonsensical, juvenile insults.
