Someone mentioned in the Cornell thread that if Cornell visits, he could stay with Onawala for free or get a hotel if he wanted, but I wonder if Hilliard and his pops are visiting, if those three might stay together? I'd love for Hilliard to have another great visit and be in Jashon's ear all weekend since they're so close.

Yeah, I'm way too excited about this recruiting weekend.

Take a deep breath and exhale slowly.

I think that BVG will hit a home run with Hilliard and his Father this weekend. If that happens, I would expect Hilliard to stay in Cornell's ear about the defensive staff and in particular, BVG and how much fun it would be to play for him. If BVG can also get time with Cornell and hopefully with Cornell and Hilliard together, well I would expect us to make a serious move with Cornell as well, especially when his position and role here is laid out for him.

For some reason, I just see Hilliard being the key to these two and really selling ND to Cornell from this weekend on provided it goes as I hope.

First post after lots of lurking. I was a long time member of Irish Illustrated and then 24/7 before coming here. Lots of good stuff here and I enjoy reading what everyone has to say.

That will change. Enjoy it while it lasts.

To answer the question in another thread. He's stated in the past that he would like to have it over a couple months before nsd.

Per Wiltfong, Justin would say his best relationship is with the ND staff at this point. Talked with Kelly, BVG and Elliott. He sees an opportunity to make an impact on ND's defense. Will take other visits and narrow down things.

He has a great relationship with the staff and had good conversations with BK and BVG. Hopes to visit a few more schools including Florida State and Florida before narrowing things down.

nothing really new. Talked with BVG for 20 minutes and BK before the game. Talked with Devin Butler and Jaylon as well and said he's good friends with them. Left at halftime.

Justin Hilliard, LB, 6-2, 225 St. Xavier High School, Cincinnati, OH somewhat surprisingly visited South Bend for the Blue-Gold game. It was surprising only because Hilliard has already visited Notre Dame five times previously. While Hilliard (pictured) didn’t commit to the Irish, the fact that he returned yet again, has to be considered a good sign. The nation’s fifth ranked outside linebacker wanted the opportunity to get better acquainted with the Irish’s new defensive coordinator, Brian VanGorder.
“I wanted to talk to Coach VanGorder a bit more and just enjoy the day,” Hilliard recounted. “I had a chance to speak to Coach VanGorder for about twenty minutes and then he had to get ready for the game. It was great getting to meet with him again and everything went well.”
Hilliard wants to check out other schools before he considers a commitment.
“I have some other visits I’m still going to take and after I do that I’ll be ready to narrow my list down again,” he explained. “I want to make sure I learn all I can about my favorite schools; that way I’ll know when I’m comfortable to make my final decision.”
Hilliard earlier announced a top 10 of Notre Dame, Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma and USC. Since he’s still in the process of evaluating his options, he’s not ready to name a leader. At this point, though, it seems as if Notre Dame will remain a player in his recruitment until the end.
“I have a great relationship with the coaches at Notre Dame and I like everything about the university,” he shared. “Notre Dame’s always been a school that’s had my attention and it’s a place that I’ve always liked.”

Hilliard is one of the most sought-after prospects in the Midwest and already has a ton of options. He narrowed his list down to 10, which includes Big Ten teams Iowa, Michigan and Ohio State. There will be plenty of competition, though, as Notre Dame, Alabama, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Florida, Florida State and USC are also on the list. Hilliard’s older brother, C.J., signed with Iowa in the 2014 class, but that likely won’t sway the younger Hilliard’s decision.

Wiltfong said that it looks like ND is in the driver's seat for Hilliard. That's about as strong as I've seen him state ND's position in this recruitment

I'm not surprised. He never gave any indication that he was leaning anywhere but Notre Dame. It's not over, but Hilliard is a huge get. Need to seal the deal.

I read earlier in the thread that Hilliard plans on taking some OVs and announcing a few months before NSD, so towards the end of the season. Is this accurate? Has anyone heard anything differently re: his timeline?

Assuming Morgan takes over the MIKE LB position, would Hilliard be a better fit at SAM or WILL (or whatever BVG is calling them these days)?
