Any chance that he's a corner? TP seemed to think he was really good based on some summer film of him playing corner.

I'd think of him as a utility DB. I think he'll be used in Nickel and dime packages if he proves to be good enough to get on the field. IMO, very little chance that he is 1 of 2 starting DB's or S's.

Way to single out my post.

Dude's job description is to be on top of things on weekends where ND has visitors. Sure he might miss a scoop. But he always tweets something like "missed this one because I was playing shuffleboard. I have terrible luck."

Well ya, because I was replying to you, specifically lol

I've notice he's tweeted something along those lines three times. He was out doing his own thing, only to learn that ND had received a commitment during that time. And there really is no harm in it, he then proceeds to do a write up or something along those lines about the newest commitment.

Three times is way too much in his profession. I've never seen him break a story. You never see Wiltfong or anyone else every say the type of things Jake does.

He looks better as a DB coming out of high school than Collinsworth... He's shorter but more polished and aggressive.

Simply due to the fact that Wiltfong is better and more of a professional.

Wiltfong is prime rib, a great cut of meat, where's as Brown is top sirloin, a very average cut of meat.

Great pickup. Its funny that people bitch that ND is never at 85, and then bitch abt taking 3 star kids that want to be at ND and work their ass off for their scholarship.

You do not build a team without kids like these. This kid is a fighter. He knows the preception that he has with his "name" and his size, but he goes out and shows people he earned every bit of it. The kid is a textbook tackler, and his understanding of the game is through the roof. He may not ever start a game in his career, but he is a kid that will contribute. He is ideal for Nickel and Dime. He is physical and understands scheme.

I bet in 5 years ND fans will be very happy he choose ND today.

Brown is the worst in the biz. Significantly below avg.

I don't really understand why you are defending him. Pretty sure you're the only one who feels like he does a decent job.

I could easily do his job. Wait for someone else to break a story. Write up a summary on the player after the commitment. Get paid.

I think everyone knows Kelly enough by now no way in hell he takes any player on scholarship that he doesn't think can help him win and deserves it. 25 years as a head coach the last 9 Div 1-you better believe he knows better than us when someone can play. Nobody was way high on Sheldon Day and he will be beast when all is said and done.

Except every recruiting service in the world. I agree with the argument but Sheldon isnt the example

Sheldon was #244 on rivals, #143 on ESPN, and #80 on 247, and a 5:s: on Scout

Regarding the bolded...This is what I posted in February....

Officials could make an educational video showing all aspects of the "Targeting" rule using Nicco's highlight film. He needs to learn how to tackle properly and not lead with his head every time.

"Textbook tackler" isn't how I'd describe him. Effective...maybe. Textbook...maybe if it's a tackling textbook from 1930.

I'm not writing Nicco off though. I was critical of the offer when it came out, but, as always, I trust the staff and I love that he REALLY wants to be at ND. I hope he proves a lot of us wrong and becomes a contributor on Saturdays. If he does, I imagine he'll be a fan favorite.

Welcome, Nicco!

This reminds me a lot of the Austin Collinsworth pickup. Very solid, not very high ceilings but RKGs. The only difference is that we needed bodies at that time (or so the perception) and not necessarily now. I think this is a very good pickup and will help the team. I do not know if he will start, but he will definitely contribute. I see us getting one more elite safety and finishing off that position.

No, all I am really saying is the guy is allowed to do other things in his life besides his job. Not saying he's great, I actually called him "very average" and even that is an overstatement.

Good pick up, seems like a gamer. Considering Collinsworth will likely play ove Shumate, I'll take my share of these minds of prospects.

I think it's pretty impressive that all of our commits are from either the south or west coast

Kid will contribute. With his drive and passion, at a minimum he'll make others better just at practice. Having said that, I think he'll earn playing time.
