Tells scout OU and Arky are standing out
Tells Bartow ND is standing out
Rivals article today doesn't even mention ND.
Most believe Baylor and Oklahoma are top 2.

I got it, I think

I'm gonna be the difference in opinion. He reminds me of a slower GAIII.

And of course he does not run standing up and down, does not have a twin, does have cornrows, does have decent hands, and is from Tx as opposed to Cali. Other than that.

So he'll be a great safety prospect! ;)

I certainly don't see it. I've never seen a RB with decent size go down so easily as GAIII, and I think this kid runs with violence.

Runs pretty upright to me (not nearly as tall as GAIII), and "decent" isn't a praise, GAIII definitely had those (you must have another video to watch, because I didn't see alot of passes thrown to this kid).

I also noticed that he is a one cut runner and gets taken down a lot by a single tackler.

Not sure how cornrows, a twin and location factor in here. But ok?

I haven't watched his tape. Does he punch guys out instead of using a stiff arm? lol

You and I were watching different tapes. This kid was slick in the tape I watched for getting down through the hole and the contact, and then extending himself for the vision in the open field. AND, I didn't see him receive one decent blow from a defender for being out of position.

Some observations from watching his film on the first page.

1. Kid runs hard.
2. Reminds me some of Ricky Watters.
3. What did he have 1000 Yds and 10 TD's vs the team in all white with the silver helmets?
4. Apparently they don't want to show anybody actually hit the ground in these highlights. Rarely ever showed him finish a run.
5. Do want

IMO, very decisive, physical runner, very little wasted motion getting north and south, slashing cuts, did not think of GAIII when I saw that tape.

Chalk it up to a difference in opinion. I wasn't wowed and you seemed to be.

Since you guys like to compare...

Cam 2.0!

He has a good cut and North South running. Balance and power seems legit. Would be and I honestly think the staff sees, a 3-7 yard back. Not a burner that will go 80 but the solid runner to get you 3-7 to finish a game.

I will take him and I am not dragging on his ability but just saying we DO recruit people for certain roles. I think he plays a big part and that is the 3-7 yard part.

JMO BTW.. LOL... FYI

After three plays I already find this comparison ridiculous. He is so much shiftier than GAIII that I'm not quite sure how you can even be reminded of GAIII. Pad level? I guess. He is a very different runner

Not really. Watch the tape again and tell me if you still believe he is a one cut running back

Watched it a few times to even make sure this was the comparison I wanted to make. Granted he doesn't have an awkward cut like GAIII did, I couldn't get past the fact that in his "highlight" video, he went down ALOT by a single tackler. His style is alot like GAIII in that he makes one cut and uses his speed to get by. The only difference is that he lacks that GAIII gear. I don't find my opinion ridiculous at all and to say he is a very different runner can be considered ridiculous as well. Obviously my opinion is not a popular one, but I'm not going to pretend to love this kid because of his high rating.

If he turns out to be a game-breaker back at the next level then obviously I was wrong, I just don't see it.

You clearly don't know what to look for on film.

If we're talking one-cut running style, I think a better comparison would be Jonas Gray. Jones, like Gray and GAIII, usually sets up for one cut and takes off. The difference is that he shows a bit more ability to run through contact than GAIII and isn't nearly as stiff when running. He's got wiggle similar to Gray and deceptive speed. But that's my inexperienced observational skills at work.

I feel like you watched a completely different film than me. 90% of the runs in the highlight are rigt up the middle and he blasts through several contacts.

I am not with you on your analysis at all. Regardless of where this kid ends up, I see him being a very good player.

Not digging on you Anarin, but you do realize that everyone else sees something totally different than you do, don't you? lol

Just watched GA III's senior year highlight tape again and was actually reminded of why everyone was excited about him coming out of high school. He shows a gear that no one else has and also breaks some tackles to turn runs into big gains. That being said I think the biggest different between GA III and RJ II is that Atkinson seems to run in a more winding pattern and his cuts appear to be more of an "S" style. Jones on the other hand appears to be able to make more decisive cuts, almost like a "Z". Idk if that makes sense to anyone else just my personal opinion

Haha I see that. I knew it wasn't going to be a popular opinion. It is what it is I guess.

It does make sense. GA III had to completely power down and then power back up when he made cuts, making it easy to be tackled because the momentum was lost. His 0-60 was not great, but his 60-100 was elite. If he hit the edge and you didn't have an angle, fuggedaboutit.

Sadly, that is only rarely important as a running back because you have 11 players starting in front of you. You're ability to cut, juke and pick up speed from 0-60 is far more important because you are able to redirect your route without losing momentum, making it easer to run through tackles and to outrun defenders who are out of position.

If Ronald Jones II was the only RB we signed, I'd be ecstatic. With his height, if he could add another 15 lbs and keep his athleticisim, he'd be a great addition to our backfield.
