You all try tackling a 230 pound Gaffney as he comes running straight toward you. And the way he drives his legs when he makes contact.. holy cow.

What were you expecting Farley to do? Drive him backwards? I'm not standing up for Farley's play tonight (IMO which was so-so) but taking a power RB head on as a 200 pound safety is not exactly the easiest thing to do.

Stop. Stop trying to defend him. I really don't like to bash players, but when they don't play D1 quality ball, someone has to point it out. There have been a number of plays throughout the season where he dropped to his knees before the tackle and was juked out of his pants. On at least 6 separate occasions tonight, he either literally dug his spikes into the turf to turn away from the tackle (the 20 yard TD run up the middle), was dragged 10 yards after contact, or was blown up by a Stanford blocking assignment. Yes, he had his 1 good tackle tonight. Broken clocks and all. He does not belong as a starting safety for ND. Sorry.

The whole middle of the defense was a liability in this game. The safety play was pretty bad on a number of occasions.

Listed as a CB on the spring roster. BK noted that BVG likes him more as an 'outside - in' type player rather than an 'inside-out'. Cites his speed and ball skills as other reasons why he could succeed there.

I like this move a lot! I think he'd be better there than safety plus it opens up the door for Max and Nicki to play the two safety positions

Oh my lord. I was hoping there wouldn't be a Gary Gray 3.0, but Farley is a prime candidate for GG reincarnation.

I like this move. He can rely on his athleticism more now instead of trying to QB the defense.

I think he could be really good at CB situationally. Goal line situations, for instance.

I've always thought of Farley as one of the least athletic players we have at DB...

He was out of position a ton, but, at least when he was a freshman, he was one of the fastest guys we had. We've upgraded a lot since then, but I think his lack of technique and experience make him look slower than he is.

Really?? He was hampered by that shoulder injury last year, but when he's healthy he can really run and hit.

He will be a really thick corner though. This move surprises me ... I wouldn't have thought of Farley as having a corner body type.

This move is probably a good thing, although it also means we probably lose some experience in the secondary as I can't see Farley starting after this move given the guys we have at CB now.

He is athletic just not necessarily a fast player. I wonder what this means for his career as he is a junior eligibility wise.

I see him as a Robert Blanton, minus the tackling and play making skills. Which unfortunately was what made Blanton good. So basically a shitty Robert Blanton.

Found out after Gray graduated that part of his problem was he played his whole last year with a hernia. It went undiagnosed because of his inability to turn his head to cough during the exam.

Didn't realize Hernia's limited your ability to turn your head. Learned something new today.

Pretty sure he was suggesting (facetiously) that he could't or refused to turn his head to cough so therefore his jokingly hernia went undiagnosed. In my opinion that was Hilarious!!

I think this move just means that he won't be playing a lot.

This.

First thing I thought of was that BK was putting him in a spot where there's no way he could start. Thought that BK was just as sick of him being shy to contact as I was. I don't know what player people have been watching since he has been here -- I don't associate him with being athletic or a hitter or having a nose for the football.

He was hidden in 2012 but exposed in 2013.

So you're saying it would have been helpful if I read his entire post, not just the first sentence. Good lord, the details around here. Hand to Forehead walking away...
