looks similar to how Justin Ferguson played and similar build to Justin Brent. I like those physical receivers

The staff keeps going after Louisiana. Making connections. I like it.

Plenty of Catholic schools in NO to recruit in. Having Tillery onboard already helps too

Anyone else feel like there are a whole lot of three-star offers going out pretty early?

Change in recruiting philosophy, has been discussed, loss of coordinators and changes with replacements.

It remains to be seen if these are three stars or three stars that will blow up next year because they didn't develop as freshmen or sophomores in high school.

I really don't care about stars on a prospect, especially before camps, combines, and his senior year. At this time last year, look where Brent, Nelson, Williams, Hill, Blankenship, etc were all ranked.

I'd trust the evaluation and projection you see on film when assessing an offer, not the stars.

I don't think the staff goes looks at 247 to see how many stars they have before they send out an offer

Obviously not, but the staff and the guys at 247/Rivals/wherever are also looking at these kids and often coming to a different conclusion. I'm not saying the staff is wrong it just seems to be a bit of a change in strategy as others have posted.

I think that's kind of my point. The offers are going out based on potential upside, which is a risk-reward scenario where we might get an edge by being in early but run the risk that he doesn't develop as we project. With the flippy-flop nature of verbal commits, I wonder just how valuable an early offer actually is. I agree with RECRUITING early, but the timing of the offers makes me go "hm?"

I'd trust the evaluation and projection you see on film when assessing an offer, not the stars.
I'm useless at that stuff so I'll leave it to you guys.

College coaching staffs and recruiting sites also have very different agendas in recruiting. College staffs are looking at system and program fit, upside, project-ability in possibly unique roles, and character - which aren't always what recruiting sites look at.

Sites, on the other hand, are 100% after hits. They will rank or publicize certain guys over others if they feel like he gives more interviews and generates more hits. Happens all the time.

plus i would think a lot of those star systems for the sites are based off of sophomore film.

sure the staff has a better jump on the 2015 class than the pay sites do....at least i hope so
