Haha pretty much... hence the knock on wood...

Don't get me wrong, Michigan coaches are GREAT recruiters... I mean they have to be to sign recruits despite sucking on the field, having a horrendous head coach who is soon to be fired, etc. They also clearly will make a push for Barnett to visit as is apparent by already being out at his school for a "bump" visit. I just don't see him going anywhere as long as Kelly is the coach and the offense performs as expected this year.

Michigan reporters clearly giving him leading questions to get some of the responses they're getting, no different than how ND reporters do the same, and so do all other reporters. From what I know of Blake, I'll be absolutely shocked baring cataclysmic BS if he doesn't sign with Notre Dame. You're going to see a lot of articles like the Scout one and this one from 247: Blake Barnett Offer Reaction where he says "blah blah blah Michigan is great blah blah blah not taking any visits except to ND."

The only offers I could potentially see shaking things up would be Stanford and USC if they had awesome seasons and ND went in the tank against a tough schedule.

So, what you're saying is the kid is a respectable, young adult?

'15 CA QB Blake Barnett (Notre Dame Verbal)

Brewster seems to believe Blake isn't as solid to ND as everyone thinks because he is listening to other schools. Apparently his coach said he is open to taken unofficials elsewhere over the summer but nothing is set up.

Like Lax said he is just trying to drum up positive spin to generate clicks and get UM fans excited. Good thing is that schools look to sew up a QB early as they tend to commit early so I would bet there will be a couple more offers go out over the next few weeks from UM once they see that Blake is a long shot at best for them to flip.

Yeah, Brewster is just being an idiot Michigan homer, but I really don't fault him. Here's the full text of what GITF is talking about:
Just wanted to add a few things on the Blake Barnett visit today by Michigan coach Dan Ferringo. I talked to Barnett's head coach, who said that he is really honored by his Michigan offer. I also asked his coach what Ferringo's message today was- "All the other programs are really trying to keep their relationship with Blake in case things change."

Barnett and his coach are adamant that he is still fully committed to ND but just reading between the lines, it doesn't seem as if Barnett is as solid to ND as most think. Sure, sometimes it's hard to decipher whether or not the Barnett camp are just trying to add more offers and pump his name up and keep entertaining schools, or if he is really more of a "soft" verbal to ND.

Tom Loy from our Notre Dame affiliate has a great relationship with Barnett and his coach, and thinks that as long as Brian Kelly is HC at ND, then he will sign there.

To add to that, I've learned that in recruiting if you are entertaining and listening to other schools and open to being recruited still, that anything can happen. We'll see how the Nussmeier visit goes next week.

That's just a fucking joke. I'm not going to act like I know Blake or anything like that, but he talked openly about being a leader for the class and optionally decided to write a blog for ITP to drum up pub for ND. Seriously, he posted that two weeks ago and it's just the beginning. And he's a "soft verbal?" LOL yeah OK dude. If Blake Barnett is a "soft verbal" then literally every verbal commit in the country right now is "soft."

His HS offense is going to be incorporating ND elements next year. He LOVED his ND visits and was as all-in as you can be. As long as Kelly is at ND, and shit doesn't go crazy this year, it's where he is going to sign. Everything else is just noise to intentionally drum up clicks or it's an uninformed person misinterpreting him being polite. I don't doubt other places will try to get arguably the best QB in a LOADED class to visit their school, but I realllllly doubt that ever happens. Nothing is ever 100% in recruiting... but you all know I'm a realist/pessimist. And I'm telling you straight up that Michigan acting like they've got a realistic chance to flip him is beyond laughable at this juncture. If USC/Stanford come into play later... well, then I'll start paying a bit more attention probably.

He was quoted saying something along the lines of him not leaving if BK left. He committed to UND, not Brian Kelly.

This. Barnett may very well go somewhere else, this is the twilight zone, err, I mean recruiting after all. But flip to Michigan? Bitch please.

Eric Sondheimer has been on the LA Times high school beat since I was in high school ('93). He has an IMPOSSIBLE job, covering that many high schools (seriously, the amount of high schools in Southern CA is ridiculous) with only himself and sometimes another reporter. Like him or hate him, he's pretty much an institution out there, he's been doing it so long.

Not saying he's a scout or anything, it he's seen enough quality QB's in his life that I respect his opinion, and I'm glad to hear that he thinks so highly of Blake.

And FWIW, my buddy knows the coaches at Etiwanda High (a rival of Blake's hs) and they all say he is legit and the top QB they faced...

Santiago HS didn't play Etiwanda last season, or the season before that.

Must have been some 7 on 7 thing, because Blake has never played against them.

Had to look Waller up. He's the Servite QB (Niklas HS) and only has a UW offer for now. I've never been to enamored with Town eithier. Rosen and Barnett are by far my top 2, I also loved Dillman before the fall but is season was kinda disappointing

Just watched Ricky Town's highlights for the first time and wow was that underwhelming. I mean the longest throw he makes in the video is 35yds and the kid is wide open. Besides that play idk if he threw it over 30. I didn't see a single play that made me say "wow" the whole video. Contrast him with Barnett, who not only obviously showed better athleticism, but appears to have a way better arm as well. IDK what USC and Bama see in him but I sure didn't see anything to rave about. Looks like a game manager from that tape. Only thing he has over Barnett is that he is more polished right now.

Ricky Town highlights:

I really think Barnett and White are the best "spread" QBs in Cali. Would take either one of them over Rosen/Town for what ND wants to run.

I'll give some credence to a guy who has seen them all in person and has been doing this for years, personally.

I am not disagreeing. I am just saying this guy is the first guy I've seen who said he would take Barnett over Town and Rosen. The top 3 our.... in whatever order you want to put them in.

Rosen
Town
Barnett

Rosen runs the spread at Bosco, plus plenty of people said he is the best QB in the country.
