Makes absolutely no sense and anyone who says otherwise is a moron. Would've been just about locked in to being the #1 TE next year. Could go as low as 5th in this draft... maybe lower.

Dumb dumb dumb dumb.

Is Kelly leaving or some shit? That's the only thing that would explain something this stupid.

I know this, something doesn't feel right, but that sums up the last 12 months.

This is literally the first thing that crossed my mind when I read the tweet.

Didn't Tuitt tweet something a few weeks ago like "coaches don't tell no one nothing around here." Something's going on and it's pissing me off.

The degree argument is different, but everyone keeps bringing up the fact that coming back to school could improve your draft position. Under the new CBA, the higher rounds aren't getting crazy money and all rookie deals are three years, so the incentive to move up isn't as strong as the incentive to get into the league earlier so you get to free agency a year earlier. The big money doesn't come from being taken at the top of the second round opposed to the middle of the fourth; the big money comes after your rookie deal is up. So staying in school would be like playing an extra year on your rookie deal for free.

He was in my old dorm, and a bunch of people I know who live there still are really surprised to hear this. Don't know what happened. He was in a few of my classes and he always seemed to like being at ND, so not enjoying his time at ND certainly doesn't seem to be the reason to do this.

Either way, as everyone else has stated, this is about as dumb a decision as someone can make. Option 1: Work your way into a higher round, while completing your degree to set yourself up for more success in EVERY WAY. Option 2: Leave early, most likely getting drafted in the fourth round at best, without your degree. Which seems like the good choice? Hmm...

I tend to think something else is up...

Caught some teammates by surprise as well.

Yeah... seriously... WTF is happening? This literally makes no sense at all. None.

That was regarding Diaco I thought...

I don't think anything is up with BK, but he did just lose his offensive coordinator.

Ben Potential just popped wood.

I really hope he has an insane season and ends up getting drafted early.

Doesn't matter you're looking at substantially more money with more security coming back and being the #1 TE versus being at best the #4 TE in this draft. You're right that it is less of a difference now than it was before, but it is still a BIG difference.

This is a very good point. Makes sense to get in early as the money is going to be about the same.

This has to be the dumbest move. Niklas was not ready for the draft, and I'd be surprised if he gets picked before the 5th round. Had he waited a year, he'd most likely be the #1 TE selected and have a ND degree in his hand. Really stupid decision on his part.

At least this year all the transfers and problems are happening before signing day so we can try and sign a bigger class.

@NDatRivals: Asked what was the biggest factor that changed Troy’s decision, Don Niklas said: “Information"

Something must be up...

Didn't BK say he put in the paperwork for GAIII and Niklas on his own?

I mean this may be some serious conspiracy theory shit, but anyway he somehow sees both these moves as good for them and/or the program?

I mean all along I think we all thought he did that for those guys to give them feedback on what to improve upon, but it seems that once those guys got those back they were just straight gone, despite neither getting glowing recommendations. Just bizarre.
