And this is getting weird

Andrew Owens at BGI said "the family of" Cameron Biedscheid has requested a transfer. Maybe his family wants him closer to home? I've also read that early transfer destinations might be Mizzou or SLU, which would certainly be closer to home.

For someone that barely follows BBall at all, ND may lose two of their better players???

Biedsheid was red shirting this year to preserve a year but es, he would be one of their better players next year. Was always weird that he requested to sit out this year. People don't normally do these things.

Weird he asked to redshirt? I did not realize that. That looks fishy now.

Brey is probably at the bar already...
“@BGI_AndrewOwens: MT @GoodmanESPN: ND redshirt freshman F Cameron Biedschied just received a permit to contact letter from Irish. Will transfer elsewhere.”

Btw I am pretty convinced his grades were bad and he wasn't going to be academically eligible so he "redshirted" to preserve a year

Here is an interesting post for those blaming all/the majority of the problems on Brey. I know its from NDNation but as PerthDomer mentioned, NDNation is a good board for basketball.

Some thoughts on Kayo's post below on ACC/ND hoops spending

This is the post alluded to: Some numbers for the discussion (link)

I have no reason to doubt the numbers, but I will say this once again. If Brey really wanted to improve the program I think he could get a new practice facility and possibly a new arena. Swarbrick is smart enough to know that a good team will mean additional revenue for the school. It's Brey's job to convince him of what he wants. Brey has been at the job long enough to have made some headway, but we never even get a rumor of improvements pending.

The most important problem for the basketball program is lack of fan/student/university support. Simply not enough people care about ND basketball. Don't think that will ever change.

Actually there have been talks about a new practice facility but the new stadium expansion and field turf have overshadowed it. They are either going to build a new rec center and let the basketball team take over Rolf's or they will just build a new practice facility. It's in the works.

Good win against Canisius today (I know, "Good win" and "Canisius" kinda shows the shape we're in right now).

But, there were a few rays of hope from this game.

- Eric Atkins is the undeniable heart and soul of this team. Had a bunch of turnovers, but that's going to happen a lot more now that he has to be aggressive on the offensive end.

- Zach Auguste, 12 pts and 8 boards. Looked really good today.

- Beecheam is smooth. You can tell he's a freshman, but he is going to be a good one.

Watching the game, I think Canisius hit their first 5/6/7 3's of the second half (atleast 3 of them being contested). The Barron kid was a freaking stud (reminded me of the lefty from North/South Dakota state last year, masoct was like the Jackrabbits. Can't remember). Small school, big time guard.

We're going to take some lumps this year, but I think we're still .500 in the ACC. We're going to continue to get better.

With all the experience on this team going into next season, Brey will be out of excuses (and if Grant comes back, this should be a top 15 team). It's going to be hard, but the overall judge of the success of this season will be how much the young guys improve from now until March.

Atkins stepped up well as a scorer but does need to cut down on turnovers. Team needs to improve late in games sloppy play cost us the OSU game and almost cost us the game today too.

We look like a much better team overall without Grant. Ewing effect?

I agree. I think him leaving has allowed the freshmen to play more and we are more of a team. This is a great game, even if we don't win this I'm incredibly encouraged about what we could do in ACC play.

I don't know what it is, but Brey really thrives when things aren't looking bright. It is when he is expected to win is where he struggles.

Man that clock issue was big for Duke. Went from being an empty possession to a three.

Is Greg Anthony a Duke fan? Sounds like I'm listening to some radio station out of North Carolina.

Duke has made seven more three pointers than Notre Dame. How is this game close? haha

Regardless of the final outcome I'm very proud of our team. We look AWESOME on both sides of the ball. Duke has made a ton of threes and we are still up 6.

Gotta give Brey a lot of credit for gameplanning with a lot of cuts and great out of bounds plays. Home crowd has also been excellent.

BreyLieving right now haha

Free throws killing us. They are making them all and we have missed a bunch.
