No one disagrees with you about wanting desperately to be at 85. I just don't think offering Jeff Jones now should be the way we do that. Agree to disagree on the prospect.
I hear ya. I guess I feel like we should be throwing out offers to see if kids "bite" at the opportunity at this point. Since, outside of Morgan, I don't feel good about any of the other guys on our board, and we would need most of them just to fill our number without decommits/attrition.
If we are fair with the kid, and tell him his offer is conditional, then I think Jones would be a good risk to take. In the 11th hour, if our staff thinks there will be room for him in spring. I would rather sign him than have an empty spot. But we can't do that unless we offer. He doesn't seem like a kid that will pick us without any due diligence whatsoever.
I like him as a RB also. His performance yesterday was extremely good and he played with a ton of intensity. Maybe the staff sees something different, but how long ago did they look at him anyway? Was Hood still committed at that point?
doesn't go to CDH
regardless if we offered he doesn't have the grades to come. ND staff just never saw him as a fit. Would rather take 2 backs in 2015 then a prospect who has had a hot week.
Was MVP yesterday of the RAS camp OVER Jaylon Smith

1. Jeff Jones: Ranked as the nation’s No. 7 running back and No. 84 prospect overall in the class of 2014, the 6-foot, 195-pound Minneapolis (Minn.) Washburn standout may have even exceeded expectations, walking away with camp MVP honors from the staff. Already a precise route runner, Jones dominated the afternoon portion of the camp, getting open at will. A good looking prospect on the hoof, Jones also proved to be elusive after catching the football. His performance landed him offers from Illinois and Iowa following the camp. Minnesota and Michigan State had previously extended a verbal scholarship.
At the Illinois NFTC today
Quote:
10. Jeff Jones, RB, Minneapolis Washburn (2014) – Despite a loaded running back group, Jones was consistently one of the top performers if not the best at any given drill. He has a great running back frame that looks capable of 3-down work. Jones is a wide receiver out of the backfield in pass-catch settings, he’s a high-energy, high-effort prospect and he seems to love to compete and work. Already ranked in the Top100 for the class of 2014 on 247Sports, Jones will be a nationally recruited prospect out of Minnesota.

Wait so Wooly you want him?
Kid ran a 4.69 at the Opening after running 4.7s when he camped at ND.
Let it go Kuehja, I mean Wooly![]()
I do. I think:
1) he's a damn good RB with good hands and intincts.
2) we led for him early, so I think he would consider us, even if his offer isn't commitable.
3) I don't think we will sign 23.
4) I don't think we will fill an 85 man roster
5) He is from the same city as Cornell and could help with his recruitment alongside Onwualu.

#9 RB #111 OVR (.9454 Rating)Have we historically skipped a year in bringing in at least one RB? Just can't remember a year when we didn't bring in at least one.
