We're agreeing here (I think) haha. What I meant to convey was that IF Nike gives us the same level of exposure and attention we'd get from UA, which would in all likelihood require our own separate brand, then it'd make sense to go Nike. But in the real world that's not very likely.
TBH I don't think there's a chance in hell Nike's gonna make a Notre Dame brand a la Jordan. If this comes to fruition, IMO it would be Nike launching a new college football brand/line and using ND as the centerpiece of it to get the line going. But in that case, they're naturally going to add other schools to the line fairly quickly in order to make it profitable, which puts us right back where we started with our concerns about being "just another nike school"
I'd prefer UA, if only to see what this would've looked like using ND instead of a generic team. Can you even imagine how sick this commercial would be? We do this deal right, get featured in a national campaign like this, and it intensifies and translates the ND mystique and tradition to kids in the south and west who aren't familiar with our history.
