Losing Diaco and Elston would almost certainly impact the defensive recruiting in a negative way unless ND hires a 'name' replacement quick style... now of course you don't rush things just for one class, but damn, things were really coming together ...

I'd like to think the ND D-Line coach would make more than UCONN's DC but who knows?

I think from a position title standpoint, they are about equivalent jobs. Could come down to $$.

Why would Bob Diaco offer Elston and not Cooks?

That seems telling to me.

It's quite simple.

Cooks right now, seems like the man to take over as DC at ND, whereas Elston would stay in his same role.

This way, they both get a promotion.

I haven't read this thread but has anyone melted down yet? I would read only if there was a melt down.

Because there are some ridiculous stuff on II. this board is 99% better. Honestly it's amazing how level headed this board compared to all the other ones. We have the best fans on this site. ND will be fine and we should all trust Kelly that he will find elite coaches. It's a testament to this staff when your assistant coaches get head coaching gigs.

I never said anything about Jaylon leaving to go with Diaco in his thread. I simply said I wonder if this will change anything with Jaylon (attitude, overall play, etc.) I never said he was going to leave.

There are several posters in the "Fire Diaco" camp that are conspicuously missing right now. I think if they were here it might be a little less level headed.

100% need to hold on to Elston. Do what you gotta do to make that happen.

Question: Do we know the salary Narduzzi turned down? Was it the same as Diaco's $1.5 mil?

Probably more. The only good news is that the assistant pay was apparently very low... so hopefully we can keep Elston by opening the wallet + co-DC.
