Random question, and I apologize if this has been addressed earlier, but I'm looking to buy tickets, and one of the price points says "Field level end zone". Does anyone have any clue what the view from that section would be like? Just curious, I'm assuming sight lines won't be the best considering it's not a football stadium, but just wanted to see if anyone here had been to any of the previous Pinstripe Bowls or our game against Army a few years back!

Sorry if this was answered before, but are Shumate and Hardy still suspended for the bowl game?

If he beats Rutgers, Brian Kelly will move into sole possession of 7th place on the all-time Notre Dame list with 36 wins, breaking a three way tie with Bob Davie and Charlie Weis.

12 more next year and he takes over 6th place from Elmer Layden.

do anything you can to avoid driving in NYC. find a hotel in connecticut and ride the train into grand central and then take the train to the bronx.

sooooooo much better than the headache of parking and driving in the city

(1) Kelly has recruited a QB every year since he's been at ND. And despite the shitstorm that happened at the position this past offseason, he managed to turn Tommy Rees into a serviceable D1 QB, despite being a poor fit for his offense. I consider that impressive.

(2) The only damnable thing you can really point to in Kelly's recruiting IMO is not picking up Schutt. You can also point to the ILB position, but he can't entice ILB recruits that aren't interested. Despite this, we've still had solid play in the interior line positions despite mediocre recruiting at those positions.

(3) In hindsight, between career ending injuries and transfers, the 2011 and 2012 recruiting classes were largely disasters. While a lot of the players in those classes have played pretty well, the numbers just aren't there. This past recruiting class is BY FAR the most talented and deepest he's had yet, and this years is shaping nicely as well. In depth and talent, this team is on the upswing IMO.

Of course things have to work out themselves (which they don't always, but certain things are out of the staff's hands), but I do believe this team is on the upswing.

I agree that it should be on the upswing but I think that the offseason will be VITAL to maintaining that forward progress, because I do no think ND should be satisfied with 8-5 records anymore, as long as Kelly is here. I honestly believe that ND should average 9 wins a season the rest of Kelly's tenure, period, if the program continues in this way.

Hopefully we can get some better bowl tie-ins through the ACC, too. That'd be nice.

This year, the ACC tie-ins were the Orange Bowl, then the Chick-fil-A, Russell Athletic, Sun, Belk, Music City, AdvoCare V100 and Military bowls

Not too much to be excited about IMO

Playing a 6-6 team? I don't get it. Notre Dame should've pressed for something more interesting than this. Why bother if that's all N.D. could get?

Will our oc and dc be coaching in the bowl? If not will that have a negative effect on this game for us?

Is this your first bowl season P.J.?

Because of extensive Bowl/conference agreements there are very few slots available to ND for the past two decades or so. ND has some juice because of their following when they are BCS eligible. When they aren't, they only get a shot at bowls where the conferences failed to provide enough qualifying teams. This year there is a surplus of bowl eligible teams, ND is fortunate to be in any bowl.

ND tipried to talk a pair of bowls into a Boise ND matchup. Bowl/Conference tie-ins prevented it as ND had to find alternate bowl(s) for any team(s) that would be displaced.

Up until last Saturday, ND was expected to be playing Houston. RU was 5-6 but won their last game to become bowl eligible and the PinStripe Bowl opted to honor their conference agreement, as well as, select a school which will buy a lot more tickets than Houston would. RU was a participant when the Pinstripe Bowl set their attendance record.

We weren't really in a great position to make demands of bowls. The last conference realignment really screwed up our position as independent. Other than our tie in with the Champs Sports Bowl, we don't have a lot of options out there if we don't make a BCS bowl. That's what forced our hand to become a partial member of the ACC. Going forward we should at least have more options if we don't make it to a big bowl.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Rutgers helps set the Pinstripe attendance record once again with us in town. So many Rutgers and Irish fans in that area, it's crazy.

Having grown up in the area and attended ND games in most of the NYC metro venues, ND could sell this game out as a home game. The closeness to Christmas (and pricey NY airport tickets and hotels) don't help. For those with the disposable $$$$ and no little kids, there's a lot to do and see in NYC.

ALLL of those are better than the crap tie-ins we had with the BE, particularly the first two that you mentioned.

fun fact: pinstripe bowl is in running for the bowl game with fewest asst. coaches ever...so far Rutgers has canned a coordinator, OL coach and a qb coach...and we've had our OC and DC take head coaching gigs.

For 2014-2019 it's as follows:

Orange Bowl (vs TBA)
- Miami, FL (80,000 seats)

Russell Athletic Bowl (vs Big 12)
- Orlando, FL (65,000 seats)

Capital One Bowl (vs SEC)
- Orlando, FL (65,000 seats)

Sun Bowl (vs Pac-12)
- El Paso, TX (52,000 seats)

Belk Bowl (vs SEC)
- Charlotte, NC (74,000 seats)

Music City Bowl (vs SEC)
- Nashville, TN (69,000 seats)

Gator Bowl (vs SEC)
- Jacksonville, FL (67,000 seats)

Pinstripe Bowl (vs Big Ten)
- New York, NY (54,000 seats)

Military Bowl (vs AAC)
- Annapolis, MD (34,000 seats)

AdvoCare V100 Bowl (vs TBA)
- Shreveport, LA (49,000 seats)

Detroit Bowl (vs Big Ten)
- Detroit, MI (65,000 seats)

Beef O'Brady's Bowl (vs TBA)
- St. Petersburg, FL (36,000 seats)

Birmingham Bowl (vs TBA)
- Birmingham, AL (71,000 seats)

I'm not sure what's not to like. Those are good bowls against good conferences. It's unlikely that Notre Dame will ever play in anything below the Pinstripe Bowl, so it's a game against a solid team from the SEC, Big Ten, Big 12, or Pac-12 most likely. I'm 10000% on board with this.

You weren't paying any attention the last two weeks, were you?
