'Tuna cracks me up sometimes, although I could see Tommy in a position like this with a few years under his belt first

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>OK, since no one has said it yet I will ... Tommy Rees for next <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23NotreDame&src=hash">#NotreDame</a> offensive coordinator/QB coach?!</p>— Matt Fortuna (@Matt_Fortuna) <a href="https://twitter.com/Matt_Fortuna/statuses/407959752086274048">December 3, 2013</a></blockquote>

He got pulled against Michigan for throwing picks... neither was in the red zone.

I haven't seen that game since the day of, but wasn't one actually in the end zone??

Alford would be a good hire from within.
If not I would want Rhett Lashlee doubt he would leave. But if he saw what we are bringing in on the O-line and running backs.
Noel Mazzone awesome QB coach and one of the top recruiters in the country.
Scott Frost- Even though I think he is gonna be the next coach at Nebraska.

None of those are gonna happen I think it will be Tony Alford but it will be interesting to see were Kelly goes. It's not like we don't have the money to give these guys whatever they want.Offensively we need a damn ID because it was lacking this year majorly.

Does anybody think Trent Dilfer will be a coach some day? He would be a dynamite recruiter and an awesome coach. Every time he talks I always listen(until he starts crying). But he would be a home run QB coach.

Mark my words. Kelly will promote from within. All of the good programs that win consistently typically do this. Then when a coach leaves it's seamless. You back fill at the lesser position and let them learn when the impact is far less.

Butler basketball and the NE Patriots are two good examples. They lose people and just keep chugging along.

anyway, I looked for guess not... I would have put my life on it, he threw one in the end zone... I can see it clear as day in my head right now... little duck to the corner of the end zone, picked by the defender... did he throw one like that that was ruled out of bounds on review??? strange.

anyway, the whole point is that Golson was not immune to making mistakes...

This is not gonna surprise some people. It's not like Chuck Martin can't coach football. I think he will be a major hit at Miami OH. Some people thought he would replace Kelly if he left for the Eagles. Who knows in the 6-10 years whenever Kelly leaves who will be the next head coach.

He definitely threw a bonehead INT on a rollout to the right, in or near the endzone. Play may have started outside the 20, however, which is why some are not remembering it as a "redzone" turnover.

Yup, you're right. Just looked it up. His second one was going in for a score.

Yep....from ESPN

2nd and Goal at MICH 10 Everett Golson pass intercepted by Thomas Gordon at the Mich 0, returned for no gain for a touchback.

That dude has ruined Monday Night Football with his obnoxious, un-insightful, stating the obvious, exaggerated game calling.
If he ever coaches ND that will end my fanship.

The guy has a Super Bowl ring. I would be ecstatic if we got him. We would also have one of the top staffs in the country. Also would be one of the top recruiters in the country.

lol@the gif. Kinda just dampened my mood. thanks -.-
He may be a good coach but in college? I don't know. We had a dude with Superbowl rings… you know how that ended. I just can't stand the way he talks and his whole demeanor.

And his tears can cure cancer...

I'm just kidding. I think you're right, though. I don't think Gruden would ever come, but wherever he goes he'll likely have a great staff and be an awesome recruiter. I remember hearing about the mind games he would play with his defense and Warren Sapp to get them to perform at such a high level. Big time motivator.

As a OC absolutely. That would be awesome. As a HC…no way.

Weis was never a head coach. That's the difference Gruden has been a head coach and won a Super Bowl.

Is suggesting George Whitfield as the new QB coach a terrible idea?

As the resident Bucanneer fan here, Dungy assembled that SB team. Gruden glossed it up and made some minor adjustments. He also had the benefit of playing his old team with Calahan as the HC. Gruden knew what Gannon was doing before Gannon did lol. Anyway the Bucs went on to mediocrity for several years after that and all Dungy's players left or retired.

I would still take Gruden if he wanted to come. Love the guy.

Was discussed briefly earlier. I don't know why him or Steve Clarkson would ever consider it. They probably make a healthy check and have the market in their respective trades absolutely cornered.

It's been brought up a couple times already. And it's a great idea, except that it seems a little too obvious. If that was a realistic possibility, you'd think Whitfield and Clarkson would have been snapped up already. I'm guessing their private tutoring gigs are too attractive to walk away from-- high pay and low pressure/ responsibility.

Coaches (like athletes) work on their skills in order to take on new challenges in life. It's not always about money, and money is not a bad thing in life, especially if you've earned it through hardwork amd principle. Coach Martin has done so. Yes, accepting new opportunities is an act of self-interest, but it is healthy and can be done with integrity. Coaches teach their players to take care of business on and off the field, because no one (not even a coach) will hold your hand throughout life.

With all this said, I need to remember that college kids tweeting are in the process of maturing, and I should not hold that against them. I realize attachments are formed, but I hope our present players and current commits remember it's about honoring your time and experience at the University of Notre Dame and thereafter.

Congratulations, Coach Martin, and best of luck as you continue on your coaching path.

True. Good point. But I still have my doubts about him performing at ND.

Speaking of Whitfield, who paid for Golsons offseason with him? Just curious.
