KU is moving the ball ok at times but they just can't put points on the board. Too many drives stalling out in La. Tech territory and ending with a turnover on downs or missed FG.

On the plus side, when they do punt, the punting has been great ...

La Techs QB is a first time starter??? Well, good to see nothing with any ties to ND can stop these green QBs....

Damn, I stepped away and they tied it up. What happened?

Quick, efficient drive with Heaps making a few nice throws. Sims running hard. Outstanding catch and run by the TE to punch it in.

Defense started to bend, but got a sack with a big loss. Have the ball back.

They are pretty cool. I love the blue.

I love the Jayhawk... Back in the day when KU had a good year and beat UCLA in the Aloha Bowl in the 90s they had the Jayhawk all over those unis... And I've missed the JH ever since.

What a kick! Love to see Chaz Weis pick up that win. Bummer for the La. Tech kid who fumbled--he played a great game--but good for the Jayhawks capitalizing.

Charlie is a Notre Dame man. I'm happy for him getting some success. Plus… I hate WVU, so its a win/win.

Didn't watch any of the game, but the running game is clearly the team strength. Sims ran for 210 yards.

They've also gone to a freshman dual-threat guy with Heaps playing poorly. We'll see how that progresses.

WVU losing means there wont be enough Big 12 bowl eligible teams, aka we're most likely going to the Pinstripe Bowl barring something else better opening up somehow.

I've said all along that Holgorson is the diet coke version of Weis. I'd be suprised if lasted beyond next season.

Pete Roussel posted this on 247 today:

Kansas Kansas wide receivers coach / recruiting coordinator Rob Ianello will move off the field and now serve as the director of research, focusing on recruiting. Charlie Weis will coach the wide receivers. Running backs coach Reggie Mitchell adds the title of recruiting coordinator. In addition, Bruce Feldman reports that Weis is trying to hire a wide receivers coach for very little pay, a grad assistant type of guy or coach that is unemployed but receiving compensation through 2014 from his previous job.

Weird, right? Is the situation that he really wants and needs someone to focus on off-field recruiting stuff, but he can't afford to hire another staffer? I guess I normally don't think of the coaching staff as an area where you want to skimp. Maybe just shows how important a professional recruiting staff, distinct from the coaching staff, is in today's college football.

Kansas isn't a bountiful area for football recruiting so maybe it'll pay off.

In the end, I don't think Chuck has learned anything from when he was at ND. He focuses soooooo much on recruiting and not enough on his on-field product. Successes on the recruiting trail are short-lived if those prospects aren't coached well enough.

All in all I think he's just a terrible HC. At one point he was seen as an offensive guru and now you can't even say that.

He's a guru for the pro game. He really needs to go back there and stick as an off coord.
