Martin-Incognito has made it to CNN, not as a sports topic but as another example of bullying in America. They raised the question of the NFL conducting an investigation of the league.

They stressed Incognito's teammates closing ranks behind him and pointing the finger at Martin.

If the NCAA investigated the issue they'd probably require Martin to vacate all his lifetime Participation Trophies.

In 4 1/2 years, they'd decide Martin's self-imposed leave was sufficient.

Dear Pat,

I take issue with your inclusion of my quotes in your "winning" post.

My quotes had nothing to do with your opinion of Martin being soft.

My quotes had everything to do with Incognito being a douchebag.

Incognito is still a douchebag.

I win.

Dearest Lion,

I'm sorry to have included you in my post about "winning"

When you agree with my mortal enemy, Wooly, you put your own posts in the crosshairs

I agree, Incognito is a big douchebag

But I still won. I win everything.

Love, Irishpat

Richie Incognito, Jonathan Martin: Why the Miami Dolphins sided with the bully and not his victim.

The traditions and hierarchies that flourish in the Miami locker room, and no doubt across the league, haven’t been passed down from player to player because this is the way a football team has to operate. They’ve been passed down because players and coaches have long believed it’s the way teams should operate. And that can change, if only those players and coaches wanted it to.

When their team fractured, the Dolphins sided with the mold rather than the player who broke it. It’s this kind of thinking that breeds athletes who mistake machismo for toughness and hectoring for leadership.

So you're just quitters like Martin?

Again, I hit it spot on. Deny all you want. This is a typical locker room situation that, unfortunately, got thrown into the limelight (Incognito is to blame as well) and the anti-bully crowd, hungry for a victim, pounced without knowing the facts.

I hope Martin never sees the field again. He doesn't deserve too.

For the sake of not quoting like 50 idiotic posts, I'll leave my thoughts and assume most can reference what they pertain to.

All the blaming of the Martin and the media is simply stupid. The voicemails and texts are hard evidence of what had happened, and it leaves one to wonder if they were released, what else is Martin's side holding for later. We also know that his agent contacted the GM prior to him leaving and he was instructed to use force to deal with the situation. So instead he chose to leave the team. What Incognito did was illegal, not sure why there is an argument against that, I don't care if its locker room code. You can't threaten someones life, especially using racial intimidation (I'm sure that wouldn't be a stretch to prove considering there was racial language in the same VM/text). Then when instructed to break the law by his superior, Martin decided to not assault another individual and walk away instead. And the code of locker room and all that **** is BS. It crossed the line when it reached outside of the locker room and was in late night phone calls and texts and when it became personal with comments about his mother and such. But then again, rape victims deserve it because they dress a certain way and invite attention.

Two things:

-Are there in fact rumors/reports that the Dolphins staff ordered this to “toughen up” Martin??
-Did a transcript of the call show the o.g. version was not complete and that JI asks JM to 'call me back' at the end? If so I would like to hear the tone of the call rather than simply read it… I have had calls/messages/convos with close friends of other races and have received messages/calls and such in turn… if an outside party were to read these messages or call logs without the context and tone involved, my friends and I would look like some hate filled racists to the last.

Not siding anywhere, still on the “something doesn’t make sense” fence right now…. With the above, just saying. Although the team statements to me speak volumes, and only cloud things further in terms of the overall story.

At this point I believe this to be true. Especially with the GMs reaction to Martin's agent calling him. But my issue with that is that doesn't excuse the behavior of Incognito. It may be part of the reason there were issues between the two, but asking someone to toughen someone up doesn't mean become a racist and threaten their life and make vulgar comments about what your going to do to their mom.

Forgot the comma after Irishpat....

In this case a comma is unnecessary. It would be superfluous and intrusive. The proper noun, "irishpat," (if that is what it can be considered) is rendered a common noun by its inclusion in the phrase "the weasel that is."

Bazinga, indeed.

I was once told, "Don't argue with fools, from a distance people can't tell who's who".

Good point. I just reached a boiling/boredom point.

There is currently a protest outside the stadium leading up to the Minnesota – Washington football game over the mascot and name of the DC team. I'm not a "native" of Minnesota, but trust me when I say that the caricature is offensive. There are legal issues involved in displaying the name and logo in a stadium paid primarily with taxpayer funds.

"A badge of honor" is a weak argument. There are Trojans, Spartans and even Gladiators. Where are the Huns, the Mongols and the Visigoths?

I can assure you that I'm not a "little man".

And I figured posting that would have zero effect. Hell, I could post that the sky is blue and you'd deny it.

Let me assure you............. you ARE a "little man", and it has nothing to do with your physical stature; it's all in your attitude. And, for the record, I have not once taken a side in the debate over who is at fault, or who is a pvssy, or the merits of holding hands and singing kumbaya, in this thread. So don't give me this "bleeding heart liberal" crap.

Has a new category of midgetry just been created?

According to Martin's rep, there were others involved and the harassment, which also included physical as well as verbal, was conducted by more than one person. There is more to this story than initially revealed and I can partially understand why the Dolphins teammates came to Incognito's defense as well.

Jonathan Martin's attorney fires back at Dolphins

According to David Cornwell, Martin's lawyer:
"Jonathan Martin's toughness is not at issue. Jonathan has started every game with the Miami Dolphins since he was drafted in 2012. At Stanford, he was the anchor for Jim Harbaugh's "smash mouth" brand of football and he protected Andrew Luck's blind side.

The issue is Jonathan's treatment by his teammates. Jonathan endured harassment that went far beyond the traditional locker room hazing. For the entire season-and-a-half that he was with the Dolphins, he attempted to befriend the same teammates who subjected him to the abuse with the hope that doing so would end the harassment. This is a textbook reaction of victims of bullying. Despite these efforts, the taunting continued. Beyond the well-publicized voice mail with its racial epithet, Jonathan endured a malicious physical attack on him by a teammate, and daily vulgar comments such as the quote at the bottom. These facts are not in dispute."

So, it seems like the other guys are trying to stick up for Incognito because some of them may have been involved in this as well

Of course they were. What better way to make a MAN out of him than to verbally abuse, humiliate him on a daily basis for over a season and a half??

SMH.

Irishpat is such a detriment to this website. I don't know why the mods keep him around.

If you just read his posts in Charlie Day's voice, he's actually tremendous for providing entertainment.

So if one guy is the problem in a locker room......you'd rather bring the whole house down than get rid of the problem?

Sorry, Martin IS THE PROBLEM. Not Incognito. Not the Dolphins.

Welcome to the NFL. You're other teammates went through the same pranks, including your QB.

Get over yourselves.

If you HONESTLY believe that what Incognito did was a PRANK, you are absolutely and TOTALLY out of touch with what a prank truly is.

And OF COURSE the locker room rallied around Incognito!! They were all in on it!! Calling someone a nigger and threatening their family is NOT a prank!!

GOOD LORD!!
